Who needs Bo when you got ErnDawg (currently crying😭)

  1. I would not be apposed to the Jays trying to acquire **Brendan Donovan** from the Cardinals…

Seems like he would fit right in with the team in all departments.

  2. I’ll miss Bo but not at that contract. Mets were a dumpster fire last year guess he wanted the big payday. Ern dog is the man and loves the Jays.

  3. On the one hand, I want to make the “friendship ended” meme with Bo, Vladdy, and Big Ern, but on the other, I really do love Bo and Vladdy’s friendship and it makes me sad.

  4. He’s a fine guy to have starting everyday and hit 8th but he’s far more valuable if he can be used as a super utility guy

  5. Love when my career 82 wRC+ against RHP guy is forced to become an everyday starter

(And if you’re going to say that’s his career wRC+ not his 2025 number uh don’t look at what it was last year)

  6. Right?! Love Ernie and would love to see what he can do this season! We are LETHAL in the pitching department and the offseason overall was VERY successful. Go Jays!

  7. I know it sucks to miss out on two premium players but if nothing else happens, I’m with Ross. This team will be just fine, and the traditional rivals in Boston and the Yankees didn’t improve all that much.

  8. What’s our depth look like now?

    C: Kirk, Heiny
    1B: Vladdy
    2B: Gimenez, Schneider, Clement
    SS: Clement/Gimenez
    3B: Okamoto, Barger, Clement
    LF: Schnider, Straw, Jo Lo
    CF: Varsho
    RF: Tony Taters, Lukes

SP: Beibes, Savage, Gaus, Ponce, Berrios, Cease
RP: Varland, Lauer, Hoffman, Rogers, Yimi, Fluharty

Assuming a couple things (Taters/Berrios health and ability mostly) and if we get Bassit back for Regular Season SP and Post Season RP, I don’t think we’re a worse team than last season. Just really Right Hand Heavy.

I do like Bo though, I was never thinking 42Million aav

  9. Seriously. It sucks to miss out on Tucker and Bo, but the part of me that cares so much about the other players on this team and how hard they’ve worked sees the upside of that not being overshadowed by a big acquisition/retention. I guess just the whole appreciating what you have perspective… and we have so much!

  10. That’s a pretty bleak bright side. If Santander doesn’t bounce back in a big way then we basically need Varsho, Clement, Barger, Lukes, Gimenez to at least replicate last year if not do better.

  11. I very much prefer Ernie as a guy that provides elite defence all over the diamond and is the last guy you pick every day because he can play anywhere, but I’m confident this team is going to be very good.

If everything happened in reverse and we missed out on Tucker and Bo, but then went and signed cease, Ponce, Rogers and okomoto, I’d feel better. I just feel like we’re one away from me saying, “this team is going to win the American League” rather than, “If things go well, we’ll be right back where we were”.

  12. i love ernie 🤍 excited to see him soon

i still have love for bo and i will miss him. but 42 million dollars a year is madness. i can’t justify that. the mets are desperate and will throw money at anyone.. i don’t understand why anyone would want to join that team after their dumpster fire of a season last year (beyond getting a fat paycheque)

but if bo wants that money, then he can have it. i’d rather focus on players who actually want to be here

  13. This is Ernie’s time to shine. I just hope that the great hitting we saw from him wasn’t one of those flukes of postseason baseball. Ernie’s very easy to root for so I’m hoping for the best.

  14. Kazuma Okamoto at 3rd, Gimenez at short, Ernie at second, Vladi at first. That’s a solid infield.. and hopefully Santander comes back 100% w/ a bounce-back year. We also added Dylan Cease to the rotation which is huge.

LA still wins their 3rd in a row.

  15. All is right now. Ernie deserves it. Better defender and all time leader in hits in the world series.

  16. So if no other moves are made are you happy with the team going into next year?

I dont think they could possible do much more unless there is a trade to solidify the closer role.

But I havent looked at remaining free agents either.

  17. I’d take Ernie over Bo any day. I have a feeling that losing bo might be key to preserving the great culture the jays have going. I’ve just always felt bo wasn’t really part of the culture.
