Here’s the article.

“Time is running out for the Guardians to make trades or free agent signings, as Spring Training is fast approaching. The team has been seeking a right-handed bat all offseason. Now, there is another connection being made to a right-handed bat that is a superutility player.

That player? Isiah Kiner-Falefa. Kiner-Falefa spent most of last season with the Pittsburgh Pirates and ended the season playing 19 games for the Blue Jays, and played a role on their World Series run.”

What do we think, folks?

  1. can we ban SI links? it’s always unsubstantiated nonsense and more likely than not AI generated. There is no source linking them to IKF in the article other than the “”writer”” thinks it would be neat

  2. i prefer it when we our blah guys end up in toronto and pittsburgh, not the other way around

  3. That’s the kind of guy that you get when it’s the 11th hour on trade deadline day and you need a shortstop because your main guy might not be healthy for the end of the year. This is not a guy you sign when you wanna compete for a division title and World Series.

  4. Most stereotypical guardians signing

Fine addition I guess, will forget about it immediately til I see him randomly rope a double in June

  5. As The Old Man in “A Christmas Story” muttered, we’ve got a whole damn team of utility infielders

  6. They need an infielder who can play 2-3x per week and be an Arias/Rocchio insurance policy (feels like I wrote this last year…probably because I did). IKF is an upgrade on the internal options to fill that role, but won’t substantially change my expectations for the season as a whole.

  7. SI is nothing but clickbait now with false rumors.

We need a legit right handed hitter for the outfield.

But we will probably just have Nolan Jones out there with his exit velocity he’ll add the power!

  8. A 4th man on the catcher depth chart. Hell yea. Super super platooning. Naylor hits in the 2nd, fry in the 4th, IKF in the 6th, hedges walks it off in the 9th. We just want to be sure our entire bench can play catcher. And 5th on the chart is Sandy as player/coach. 6th Vogt as player/manager.

  9. IKF is a career 82 OPS+ and plays slightly above average infield defense.

If he batted left, he’d have been a perfect fit

  10. At this point I’m following the Guardians until they inevitably lose in the ALDS or CS and then pay attention to the Blue Jays.

  11. Waste of a roster spot just use Arias for that dont need a shit vet who will play too much

  12. You mean the guy who literally lost Toronto the World Series for not hustling to home plate? No thanks.

  13. IFK was a liability on defense with errors when we played them in the playoffs. No thank you

  14. Nowhere in this article does this say how he’s connected. He is not connected to the team. This is clickbait. Clickbait over a utility infielder is wild.

  15. This feels like Dolan said “hey this guy used to play for the Yankees and I might be able to actually afford him!”

  16. I’m not against this signing at all. He’s a great defensive player and on this team his offense doesn’t even look particularly bad. It doesn’t make the team much better but we’re already rolling out minor league talent as everyday players.
