At this point, I guess I’ll take him

  1. His swing would fit well in Fenway. Hit 31 dingers a few years back. There are worse options

  2. objectively good player, just made a lot more sense for 1B & as the “complimentary bat”

  3. Paredes has the highest pulled flyball % of anyone in the league for each of the last two seasons and a career 131 wrc+ vs. lefties. Perfect fit for Fenway, perfect fit for a lefty heavy lineup.

Paredes is worth getting excited about if you’re a Red Sox fan.

**Edit: Some bonus Paredes facts and gushing**, since I’ve been on the bandwagon from the second the Bregman news hit —

Paredes is also well above average vs. righties (wrc+ of 115), so you’re comfortable with him in the lineup everyday. He has an OBP of .350 over the last few years, so he slots into the #2 spot behind Anthony perfectly. Whatever you do with the rest of the lineup, Anthony/Paredes can be the 1-2 every single day, and it’s a very good 1-2. The Red Sox need that consistency and that kind of traffic on the basepaths.

They also need Paredes’s contact. Paredes has never had worse than a 73rd percentile K rate. This is while also having 70-90th percentile walk rates every year. We’re talking about an extremely tough at bat here — he and Anthony would be driving up pitch counts from the start of the game. And if you believe that a certain *type* of lineup and type of hitter thrives in the playoffs beyond OPS, then that’s the exact profile we’re talking about. And it’s also more fun to watch. Certainly more fun than Eugenio Suarez and his .300 OBP and 200 ks.

  4. I knew the numbers but not the player. I just watched a YouTube compilation of his 2025 season and his swing looks extremely Fenway friendly. Lots of pull power to left.

  5. I’m basically good with just getting an above average infielder to play 2B/3B at this point and Paredes definitely fits the bill. If he can stay healthy, he’ll easily put up 3-4 WAR.

As long as Rafaela isn’t playing 2B come opening day I’ll be fine.

  6. They have filed for arbitration, so if he is traded do the Sox then go in / offer him a deal? Or do the Astros have to settle the case before trading?

  7. Yeah that’s a good fit ngl, good bad, good profile for Fenway, not the best base running or fielding but not a liability either

  8. “I guess I’ll take him”

This sub is full of petulant children. I’m convinced half of you would actually prefer the team to keep waffling so you can keep hatejerking on the internet

  9. He seems like a solid player but so much of his savant page is blue. I know that’s not the be all end all, but it’s concerning.

  10. Parades would be solid. I’d still rather pry Marte from AZ, but if that door is truly closed then Parades is definitely a great alternative.

  11. 26 year old two time all star with a career 119 WRC+, 128 last year, previous years 116,136,115, excellent walk rate, dead pull hitter, in fact pulls the most balls to left field than any other hitter, which would be a Fenway dream, and posts like OP”I guess I’ll take him” 🤣 Sox fans are delusional man.

About the only knock on him is defense, and his defense isn’t even awful, just mediocre, -2 runs , Bichette was like -12. He won’t be winning gold gloves but he won’t be hurting you over at third by any means. Depends what they have to give up, I’d absolutely do Bello, but Bello alone might not get it done. I like Early or Tolle but you’d have to give up one, Early if gun to my head.

  12. “I guess I’ll take him” yeah no shit he’s good and a great fit for Fenway lol

  13. He would be good for us because of his pull power and Fenway. Paredes or Donovan I’d be ok getting. Marte is who I really want though.

  14. Paredes may be the last shot the Sox have at fielding a respectable lineup at the premium positions this season.

If we can’t secure that contract, then prepare to mail it in until the post-lockout era. I hope Crochet and Anthony aren’t grandfathers by the time our next window opens up.

  15. Astros fan, this came across my feed

I’d be pissed if you guys got him from us. I LOVE this guy. He’s young, he’s cheap, he hits dingers, and most of all: HES PATIENT. My man absolutely works the count, and does not strike out. He’s not flashy, but he is extremely disciplined, and would rake at Fenway. Please don’t take him!!

Lastly my wife and I are going to Boston in May, any Boston recs are appreciated. Also would Fenway accept me in Astros gear or would I be asking for trouble?

Good luck to the Sox, and fuck the Yankees
