David Blough’s OFFENSIVE PLANS! Commanders Defensive Coordinator TARGETS REVEALED!

Grant breaks down David Blough’s coaching background and why NFL insiders believe in him, plus updates on three defensive coordinator candidates: Joe Cullen (Chiefs DL coach), Dennard Wilson (Titans DC), and Raheem Morris (potentially going to TV).

💡 GRANT’S TAKE ON BLOUGH

The Feeling: “I’m not happy or sad. I am EXCITED.”

Can’t be sad after watching elite coordinators leave. Can’t be happy because nobody’s seen him as OC. But the league wanted him – Bears, Jets, Lions all tried to hire him.

🧠 WHY BLOUGH COULD WORK

“Super sharp and a great communicator”
“Really smart, the job won’t be too big for him”
Played/coached in SEVEN different offensive systems

His Systems Education:
Browns (Monken/Kitchens) → Lions (Bevell/Lynn) → Vikings (O’Connell) → Cardinals (Kingsbury)→ Lions (Johnson)

Growing Pains: In-game management and sequencing will be the challenge. Great OCs win plays by knowing WHEN to call certain looks.

🛡️ DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR CANDIDATES

JOE CULLEN (Chiefs DL Coach):
Chiefs’ Chris Jones tweeted “Oh shit” when Cullen got interviewed. One year as Jags DC (2021) – numbers were bad but that was Urban Meyer disaster year. D-line coach since 1991, solid reputation.

DENNARD WILSON (Titans DC):
Titans numbers look bad, but personnel is TERRIBLE. Multiple team reporters say he “draws blood from a stone.” Experience: Ravens DB coach (2023), Eagles DB/pass game coordinator (2021-22), Jets DBs coach (2017-20).

RAHEEM MORRIS (Falcons):
Ian Rapoport says Morris could go to TV for 1-2 years if no HC job. Would take him out of running. No reports we’ve reached out. Playoff coaches can interview after this weekend.

  1. I'm in disbelief that Adam peters is not even trying to get Harbaugh!!! he's one in a lifetime opportunity. we know dq will not make it next year. Harbaugh is available now. why are we passing on him

  2. What's up GRANT?? Anyways hope your right about our future OC … Staying positive and hopefully we will get back to winning and getting our respect and moving forward as a complete team !!!! Let's go Washington 🏈💪🏽🔥🔥🔥💯

  3. The commanders just lost a very gifted and successful OC in Cliff. How easily we forget his season two years ago. Its hard to know what went on inside the front office. The rumors were he wasnt running the offense they wanted, but no one was complaining 2 years ago. I am guessing Adam Peters wasnt happy he wasnt playing his draft picks enough.

I am hopeful David is going to be a superstar, but he is unproven. I have confidence Cliff will find another team and succeed.

  4. This is going to be a complete disaster and everyone is getting fired after next season. Not having the guts to fire Quinn is going to result in a wasted year. Sadly, Josh Harris is a very cheap owner. Ask Devils fans

  5. Regarding the game winning TD pass to Crowder in the EZ, it was either Jason or Devon McCourty that interviewed JC in the locker room. McCourty asked him about the play and JC said they had run it in practice Friday before the Eagles game. It was the Eagles' two-high safetys in coverage with the LB in the middle that Crowder had to get past. Ordinarily, the pass would've gone to Ertz, but when JC was able to get past Zach Baun, he bent a little to the right and JD5's pass was right there. Not too shabby for a young former QB to design a play like that. Evidently, they ran the same play at Purdue and it worked for them there, so they gave it a shot against the Eagles. Nice play, Coach Blough!

  6. I was thinking about DQ. He’s a streaky coach. When things are going good, they compound and get going downhill and eventually comes up short, but in the SB or NFC CG. When things are not going well, same thing. DQ is boom or bust. But at the very least, he doesn’t strike me as Jason Garrett, Jeff Fisher type of coach that’s always around .500 but never make it out the first round of playoffs. He just needs to handle the very end better but at least we know this guy has a ceiling of championship game or Super Bowl. He’s not like Lafleur with Love. 7 seed’s, one playoff win that people act like was bigger than the SB.

  7. This franchise has allowed far too many outstanding up and coming coaches to leave. McDaniels would've been here 1yr and left for a HC job. At least Blough gives us several years on staff.

  8. It’s funny how people can say he’s young and haven’t never called a play before, but look at all the OC’s we have had that has been calling plays years and we still stunk it up, hey besides, All the other youth offensive minds in Macvay, a Lafluer, Shanny etc. had never called a play before neither until they was given a chance, stop it already!!!

  9. I'm feeling good abt Blough; he is familiar with the roster, good rapport with JD, an abundance of plays to scheme, and DQ who's job is on the line, wanted him. And Im tired of watching franchise-changing O gurus, leave us and shine elsewhere. No doubt David has a playbook full of stuff; yes, sequencing and in-game management will be the test along with getting the best out of the players you have on the roster; something KK may have shortcomings. With some coaches, if he is a hammer, everyone looks like a nail. I expect under C vs shotgun to be 50-50 or 60-40 under C next year as JD is eased into the style.

  10. I listened to a few lions podcast from Monday… all of them had blough as their 1A or 1b for their OC. DQ is not crazy for doing this.

  11. Great move for the redskins. Finally some youth. They definitely kept the best choice in the building. He is a brilliant mind. Now time for some young blood on the field. Instead of these old men that used to be but ain't no more!

  12. I hate the way the nfl operates now. One bad season due to a heavily injured riddle team and they blow the coach staff up. Then we go out and take a huge risk with him over cliff and mcdaniels
