Mets Reportedly Still In On Cody Bellinger Despite Bo Bichette Deal

  1. AWWWWWW SHIIIIIT A WHOLE 20 HOURS PASSED WITHOUT SOME DICKHEAD SPORTSWRITER POSTING FOR CLICKS ABOUT WHAT THE METS WILL “REPORTEDLY” DO.

  2. 3 for 145 gets it done with opt outs

I’m all in for mercenaries if we’re getting them in their prime years and making them motivated to get the best out of them for another contract

We got our long term hall of fame generational guys like Lindor and Soto, just build around them with short term deals and continue to develop the best farm system in the background. I think Stearns is rewiring my brain

  3. A text I sent right after the Bichette signing: I also expect us to sign Bellinger. Not because we need him or he’s necessarily the best fit, but because a billionaire’s ego got bruised.

  4. All these people saying “don’t worry about Cohen’s wallet, it’s not your money”….how do you think he got rich? By being a good investor maybe? Being good with money?

Also expect those crazy contract costs to trickle down into tickets and concession prices. What in the free lunch do y’all think? Go 65 AAV on Tucker just because you can? No.

Smart deals is always the way to go. The Ohtani situation is such an outlier because look what he does for one team…an entire nation is watching and their guys want to play with him and MLB is looking the other way. Can’t compete with that with just dumb money.

Hope Belli isn’t a stupid overpay but I have to imagine the Dodgers are out of this one to drive up the price…but you never know for sure.

  5. Bellinger…348 with RISP last year….281 lifetime.

Maybe the Mets ownership knows what they are doing. We needed more guys who will make the 1-run innings into 3-run innings. If we land Bellinger, it seems like we have 3-4 guys behind Soto and Lindor who can DRIVE them IN.

  6. Unless Bichette is a gold glove OF that we didn’t know about, I don’t see why one would preclude the other.

  7. Feel this guy is gonna work himself into a low AAV short term deal because his market is gonna disappear. Not sure why he thought anyone was ever signing him to a 7 year deal.

  8. Get Beli, sign/trade for Peralta/Framber/Gallen (Pref Framber or Gallen so we can save prospects for deadline).

2026 Trade Deadline: Trade for Skubal.

Win the whole damn thing and best the dodgers. We’d be national heroes at if we stopped the 3 peat. This would be such an unreal dream roadmap, which is absolutely doable too.

  9. No matter what Cody does he needs to accept that he is probably never going to get in any offseason a 7 year deal from a team he actually wants to play for no matter what he does. Right now is his best chance and only because MAYBE the Yankees get scared. Maybe. They shouldn’t though.

  10. Honestly, of all the external free agents, Bellinger was the one I thought was the best fit.

  11. If the Mets pull this trigger and then improve our pitching, we all better be willing to buy tickets and merchandise to show appreciation to Uncles Steve.

  12. I was really looking forward to seeing a lot of young kids playing the majority of the time

  13. Is Belli still a plus fielder in center?

If so I think the right deal makes a lot of sense. Belli Plays center while we wait for Benge. Can cover more ground to help Juan and a potential LF Baty. Then can slot into first if Polanco can’t field the position.

  14. That’d be nice. Trade Maurice and vientos for another piece… Ideally Skubal somehow lol

  15. While bellinger would be nice. I just hope it wouldnt cement dealing Baty. I really think Baty is ready to be pretty darn good. And I bet he can play a decent LF if needed

  16. They are going to get close to $400 million on the roster. They could seriously add Bellinger if they trade for Peralta.

  17. I rather they not strap themselves to Cody for more than 2 seasons. Money wise, who really cares?
