IS BISACCIA GONE YET?

  1. They just rewarded his horrible coaching job in the wild card round. Bascia is probably about to get a pay raise

  2. I think he deserves to be fired.

At the same time, I’m not sure it changes anything. We’ve been bad at ST for like 20 years, regardless of coordinator.

He was seen as the best in the league and then came here and sucked. So did he forget how to do his job, or is the org systematically flawed in its approach to special teams?

  3. At this point i don’t care about keeping MLF, the arguments for it are pretty convincing. Not doing anything different AGAIN on special teams will be a huge mistake. We have to stop being so damn conservative.

We NEED to open the walet for our next DC as well.

  4. Nope, MLF will run it back. Why wouldn’t he? He’s safe and likes to keep his buddies around rather than strive for improvement.

  5. If this organization doesn’t place any value on special teams is the coordinator really going to matter? MLF said just a few weeks ago the special teams unit was doing well.

The Packers have replaced the coordinator a few times, and it’s only gotten worse. Bisaccia had a good track record as a coordinator of other special teams units and came to GB and tanked. Is it him or is it just the culture of the team?

  6. It doesn’t matter who the coordinator is. there are two things the packers (as an org) do that contribute to the pattern of having bad special teams play:
    1. they routinely field one of the youngest rosters in the league. special teams performance is usually a function of roster depth. The Packers ‘depth’ personnel is very young and inexperienced (and therefore more likely to make mistakes)
    2. Relative to the rest of the league, the Packers prioritize meetings and practice on Offense and Defense more than special teams. There’s limited hours per week to prep, and the Packers spend more time than most on the first two phases at the expense of the 3rd.

I get wanting to be mad on the internet and wanting people fired and saying the word “ACCOUNTABILITY”, but swapping coordinator alone won’t change special teams performance. Need to change the packers philosophies listed above. For me, I’m fine with the way they prioritize, but feel free to be angry about it if that’s your thing

  7. Does the coach really matter or is it something else? They’ve gone through so many coaches no improvements. It has to be something about the philosophy of management with special teams players

  8. Matt should be an offensive coordinator. The guy cannot coach the whole team – all three phases. He is just not a leader of men. He doesn’t even pay attention when the defense is on the field.
