  1. I just checked the standings. We were first in the conference when October ended. We’re 2nd to last now.

Clean house man. Need a new GM to take a loooooooong hard look at this team this offseason

  2. I think most of you clowns should stop crying in here about wanting Fitz to make a move or for Keefe to do something different etc…none of it is going to happen… the only thing you can have hope for is that these guys return to playing the hockey they were at the beginning of the year…otherwise it’s just a wrap this year and another year wasted. But if they don’t make the playoffs, you will get your wish of fire Fitz. But at the end of the day we know this team can win games and play good hockey, they won 8 in a row… this is on the players rn to a very large extent imo… they are mentally weak and don’t come to play every night.

Frankly the only thing that will save this team is them calling up Daws and his last 5 games in the NHL not being a fluke and the team makes a run off his magic…while Marky sits in the pressbox.

  3. We need a new GM. If that new GM cannot construct a winning roster with the core we have, it’s time to blow up the core. I don’t think Keefe is the problem nor do I think a new coach would improve the team.

If we blow up the core, i’m taking a significant step back from being a Devils fan. I’m coming close to 20 years of being a diehard fan, and I can only take so much disappointment.

I’ve had to stop watching the Jets due to how consistently atrocious they are. Don’t make me do this to the Devils.

  4. Even as an eternal optimist, it’s hard not to be frustrated with this result. What was supposed to be one of the favorites out of the East got totally outclassed (again). Jack’s hand is obviously not 100% but it’s not an excuse. The team clearly lacks a 4th line that can impact the game, and the skill players just cannot finish. Not gonna go out and say trade this player or that player, just hate to see that mgmt is essentially willing to allow this to be a lost season with 30+ games left. Cap situation makes it nearly impossible to provide an appropriate shakeup to the roster and Keefe isn’t going anywhere.

  5. 2nd to last in the East. Anyone associated with Fitzgerald should be out of a job before the Olympic break. His team is tanking this franchise despite being handed multiple draft lotteries. The core that is all there was impossible to miss on. He has fucked up literally every decision that was not a guaranteed win for him.

  6. Doubt Fitz gets fired mid season but if they don’t make the playoffs, he’s gone in the off season . And it would be dumb to fire Keefe after only 2 seasons . Bring in a new GM and see how Keefe does next year under new management

  7. Will Luke ever be held accountable and sit for a game or 2? Or is that role reserved for Simon Nemec only

  8. Last one from me: what are we doing with Seamus Casey? Because he doesn’t appear to have a spot here, and by all means, he WAS a valuable trade asset the last couple of years but I fear his value has gone down. Did Fitz also screw that up and he’s just going to rot in Utica?

  9. They honestly look like a team of quitters right now. If the opponent scores first, every Devils player just gives up and stops trying to win.

  10. This season is actually making me feel slight nostalgia for the 23-24 season. At least we had the stadium series. Also, they scored more goals so at least the losses were a little more entertaining than the losses this year which are torturous snoozers.

  11. Fitz needs to find a way to turn Bratt into Jason Robertson. And then Mercer into someone that can actually shoot.

  12. It is never just one thing. When a team radically underperforms, it is always a few factors combining in a negative feedback way.

But there is ONE SIMPLE FACT that has been true from the moment that Keefe arrived, and was NEVER true under Lindy Ruff.

And what is that ONE SIMPLE FACT?

The Devils have heavily underperformed at 5v5 scoring.

That was never true under Lindy. NEVER.

It has ALWAYS been true under Keefe, healthy or not, and even during the brief ‘good stretches’ (November-end December ’24, and first month of this season), the Devils under Keefe have ALWAYS really struggled to score in 5v5.

Fitz and Keefe share responsibility for the terrible 5v5 scoring. Fitz screwed up the roster. Keefe runs systems that are premised on 2-1 and 3-2 games (which is what Fitz hired him to do).

But those two are of the same mind, as Fitz confirmed in his press availability. This is the kind of hockey they both want. And it is a total and complete disaster.

Now, to be clear, I am not arguing for a second coming of Lindy Ruff.

But I am saying that the Fitz/Keefe junta is a total disaster and must be replaced.

  13. So, I was at the game. It was a tale of two Devils teams. One went out being aggressive, moving their feet, and throwing bodies around. The other was flat footed for two periods and hesitated on shots. They also did not help out Marky.

And yes, I uttered “Fire Fitz” several times during the third along with “Boo Urns”

  14. Good to see Markstrom crashing out even with our softball reporters, didn’t see who that reporter was but he should have responded with yes different score lines but they were both losses.

  15. >No speed

    >Jack Hughes cannot enter the O-zone without falling

    >we cannot figure out the Canes, whose entire playbook is “lob softballs until one goes in”

    >cannot follow up

    >cannot drive corners

    >marky

All of this with *multiple* instances of “””generational””” talent on our roster

I would love to believe that getting a star-studded coach is what will save us, but that’s also what we’ve said about defense… and goalies… and past coaches… and depth centers… and…

  16. You needed to win tonight. Instead you lost to a team that got shut out this week by the Ain’t Louis Blues, and is on a back to back. You had a rough time beating the Kraken on home ice.

Sell. You’re 15th in the EC. Sell the house. I’d have more respect for Fitzgerald and ownership if you declared this season toast and admitted that this core hasn’t helped us WIN.

  17. Caps lost, isles lost, flyers lost, pens only got 1 point. An absolutely dream for us to gain points on basically the WHOLE division an we cannot muster up the balls to play a solid 60 minutes, just a terrible team

  18. Fitz and Keefe can’t score goals. This season has been on the players. They can’t finish. How many breakaway chances has Jack blown. Perennial all-star players need to put those away. It’s time for these guys to earn their paychecks.

  19. This is a disaster beyond repair. Our core is fucked. Zero pushback and total inability to win. Honestly trade Nico and Jack at this point. Nothing is getting better with our current cap situation. Throw this year away and tank for McKenna

  20. Hey, HBSC. Do you see how badly Fitz screwed this up?

If you guys don’t make serious changes, the Prudential Center will be back to 60% attendance next season.

    Is that clear?

  21. Devils lose spectacularly and Josh Allen is crying in his post game presser. Currently in shambles.

Well at least the Giants got John Harbaugh. Little things to look forward to cause nothing on this team has that in the horizon

  22. It’s not to late to save the season IF and ONLY IF they FIRE Sheldon Keefe! Don’t throw it away, FIRE Keefe!

  23. Team looked good through a period and a half, then once Carolina scored it was basically all over. Can’t even beat Carolina at home, when they’re on a back to back and just scored 9 goals the night before and probably are exhausted….

  24. The first 30 minutes of play actually looked promising. There were lots of scoring opportunities for the Devils but no goals. And the Canes only had a few shots in the first period. It’s almost like the Devils’ whole strategy changed once the Canes got the first goal.
