The CRAZIEST day any MLB player ever had | Stories You Wouldn’t Believe
Joel Youngblood started August 4th, 1982 as a member of the New York Mets. After 2 at-bats against future Hall of Famer Fergie Jenkins he was pulled from the game and told he had been traded to the Montreal Expos. He boarded a plane and played for the Expos that night against Steve Carlton and the Phillies. What happened next may never be replicated again in MLB history.

MLB get a salary cap!!
we are DEEP in the offseason
Not only do I believe it, I remember watching the Mets/Cubs game on WGN. I don't recall if I also saw the game that night as well, but I certainly recall seeing it on the sports news.
It may never happen again in exactly this way (playing for two teams in two different cities on the same day), but other players have been traded while their current team was playing their future team.
Expos Toujours!
I know him
Great recap of this day in MLB history. I was watching on TV that night when he got his hit for the Expos.
Jon Bois needs to do a Pretty Good about this.
Great video!
The only thing that would’ve made this cooler is if the second game was played in Montreal. Then it would’ve been in two different countries as well.
This happened on my dad's 30th birthday…Rest easy Dad
Flipping and bouncing the hat collection is loony work 🤣 🫡
I'd heard about Youngblood's feat over the years, but until fairly recently, I had thought the trade had been between games of a doubleheader the two teams were playing.
I believe it because i remember it happening . Pissed that my Mets traded Youngblood. 2 cities? 2 COUNTRIES!
Being a Mets fan in the early 80s was brutal. Tom Gorman was "the player to be named later" in that trade.
My favorite ball player
I was 11 and a big Mets fan though they really sucked!😮
He never caught anything with that glove anyway! No lose.
10 youngbloods equaled 1 Mendosa card!😂
Joel Youngblood was a great Met.
