With Malik Nabers looking doubtful to return at the start of next season, I am beginning to like this pick more.

  1. Yes especially if Wandale isn’t retained, him or Downs should be the pick. Have to hope Titans don’t take Tate right ahead of us. They badly need receiver help

  2. Where the hell did you get Nabers is doubtful to return? No one has heard anything. Are you his doctor?

  3. Yes, let’s surround dart with as much talent as possible. One of the only negative things you can say about Harbs is that he has a bad history of missing on WRs and the hit rate on OSU WRs is insane.

  4. You don’t make first round draft picks based on a couple weeks here or there from Nabers. Personally, I’m hoping one of Tate or Tyson are there at 5 and we trade down with KC to 9 recoup a day 2 pick or two, take Downs or Styles to green dot the defense and then a WR at the top of r2 like Geramie Bernard, Serrat or Jakobi Lane.

  5. It’s a weak WR class, we shouldn’t reach because of need. Take the best player who will help us win games with our new coach. That will be most likely be Caleb Downs or Mauigoa at 5.

If we trade down down a few picks and Tate or Tyson are there, then it’s more of a justifiable pick.

  6. What bout corner? The defense may benefit the most from the new coaching hires since there is so much talent up front, but the DB room leaves a lot to be desired.

Wr in round two? I’d say lineman is another area of need as well, the starters are on the older side and we have one decent backup (mbow) so it’d be worth it to draft for depth in that area

  7. Nah that’s just reaching for a player due to a class devoid of talent.
The only blue chip prospect are love and downs, and downs seem like the perfect fit for what harbaugh may be building.

  8. Caleb downs, OL, or trade back. No chance im spending the 5th pick in the draft on my wr2

  9. I think the giants need another WR. nobody knows what the recovery will be for nabers. I’ve heard talk that even when back it sometimes takes a season for the confidence and playing shape to come back. Worse yet, some never return to form after an injury such as his and even leave the game.

It stinks for nabers and the giants but it’s the reality.

  10. Why would Malik being out a few weeks mean we need to use a top 5 draft pick on a WR1 prospect?

We have gaping holes all over this team – WR1 is the one spot that is more or less a lock. We are in desperate need of an elite Safety, TE, OL, CB – we’d love another elite Edge or LB.

  11. We need Reuben Bain to have a game-wrecking night tomorrow to get more Edge players ranked above our #5 spot since we don’t need them.

  12. Team does need to plan for a WR core without Nabers. Don’t hate it but if you look at the final 8 teams you aren’t getting there without a serious defense.

  13. I Get that a receiver is the flashy pick and to be honest I don’t have anything against it, but I would go with MY GUY FRANCIS
MAUIGOA! If he’s available. Legitimate right tackle of the future build up this offensive line. He’s a great run blocker probably a little bit better run blocking, then pass blocking, especially early on in his career, but I think he can refine his pass blocking. He’s a dog watch his tape.

  14. My feeling is we should try to trade down no matter what. We don’t have a 3rd rounder this year because of the Dart trade up, right now it would be about 70 picks between our 2nd and 4th. Maybe comp picks but not something to bank on as this team needs to continue to live off of and grow it’s young talent.

If we are stuck at 5 and it goes something like:
    Mendoza – QB/BPA – Fano – Tyson/Tate or EDGE

    1. Reese can play anywhere on the field like Carter, not as gifted off the edge but a freak athlete who can cover in space, plays sideline to sideline and is basically Carter’s athleticism. With Okereke being a cap casualty I could see it working. Adds more studs to our defense.
    2. Downs is obviously one of the best players in the draft. My philosophy with a Safety is they can make a good defense elite but can they make a bad defense good? Giants have a ton of talent in the front 4 but lots left to be desired in the back end. I wouldn’t be opposed to Downs, he’s a difference maker…albeit not a game breaker until the defense improves as a whole. Hard for safeties to shine when the CBs are terrible and you can’t stop the run
    3. Bain is a monster but I think we’re set at EDGE, too many holes to fill.
    4. If Eluemunor walks for more money I think Mauigoa is a slam dunk. Already plays RT, is a physical force, plays with a mean streak. I love watching him play. I am hoping Jermaine comes back.
    5. Tate or Tyson. I am more of a Tyson fan than Tate. I think his ceiling is a lot higher, reminds me of Lamb. Injury concerns are worrisome, could see him sliding off of that alone. Tate is more physical, better with contested grabs at high pointing (think Tyson may have better body control) and both are great athletes. Tyson glides in and out of breaks, Tate can as well but not as fluid. He makes up for it with his physicality.

All in all, OT is my favorite play if we don’t move down. Even if they bring Jermaine back, he can slide inside to RG. If he walks, draft Mauigoa and sing Linderbaum and let’s cook. I wouldn’t be upset with giving Dart another awesome weapon. A guy to not sleep on if we move down is Peter Woods at DT. Can help sure up the run D and can rush the passer. Not sexy (pun intended) but trenches are where we win. Sonny Styles is also a great option, more traditional LB and greendot. Don’t love the value at 5 but he’s a damn good football player.

Realistically a trade down to get more ammo is probably what’s best for the team in the long term. They often benefit the team getting addition picks. If not, get a good football player.

  15. We need Downs or whoever the top corner is more but agreed he would fit great with Dart.

  16. The plan when the giants were in contention for the 1st or 2nd pick was to trade down and get picks.

That should still be the plan.

Yeah, they won’t get nearly the haul they would have gotten for 1 or 2, but the giants have a lot of holes to fill, so picking up and extra 3rd or 4th is still valuable.

The giants also have a lot of needs that can be filled with mid round picks LB, DT, IOL.

  17. If I’m the Giants, I’d go defense. Those fourth quarter comebacks were egregious.

  18. Dart was able to make the offense move with 5’8″ Wandale and stone hands Slayton and Theo as his best receiving weapons, meanwhile our defense couldn’t stop a nosebleed in the final quarter of games. Tate/Tyson to go with Nabers does sound enticing and wouldn’t be mad at all if they’re the pick, but imo going BPA in Downs is the best option. Solidfy the defense and take a WR in the 2nd round imo

  19. I’m not deep into college player rankings but this is how I see it. Saquon came back from the same injury as Nabers so I don’t think it’s out of line to say he comes back. I get the point WR are expensive FA’s but there’s plenty of guys out there to add in. We have Adebo and Flott as Corners, a solid DL and rush, we need run stoppers at LB and safety. They say Downs is the BPA. So, get him. Defense the biggest need, that’s what killed us last year. They’ll get the offense sorted with the talent we mostly have with Elu needing to be signed. But, knowing a guy like Harbaugh is on it creates a warm feeling for the first time in awhile.

  20. They need a WR2 whether Nabers is back week 1 or not. They have no depth there and it got exposed once Nabers went down. Darts development is the number 1 priority, you want to surround him with as much talent as possible. Do what the eagles do, build one side of the ball through the draft and the other spend money on it. Niners for all those years were able to spend big money on defense cuz Purdy was on a 7th round rookie QB salary. Dart is a low first round Rookie. His rookie contract is when you want to invest in him.
