[Gambatese] Pros and Cons of Trading Dougie Hamilton

  1. This team doesn’t have the right stuff. I would still only trade him for an excellent return.

  2. golly jee, I wonder what was different about the two weeks that Nemec played well. what could have possibly contributed to that?

we’re able to pinpoint that Hamilton’s deployment has clearly affected his goal scoring and offensive ability.

but we cannot take the next logical step that Nemec’s deployment, for the most part, doesn’t necessarily put him in a place to succeed either.

it is not only who he is deployed *against*, but who is deployed *with* and *when* he is deployed.

  3. Man it’s real hard to accept those stats JP. Maybe he has just been streaky.. I thought he started the season well, then got hurt and was awful after that until the benching, then has been good since. I suppose that does coincide with the team being terrible generally but he’s part of that.

  4. pro: the only thing we can’t get anyplace else, cap relief.

con: stuff Nemo can learn to do far better in short order

  5. Even though many think he’s our best defenseman, I still think he needs to be traded at some point before next season unless we’re able to move off other contracts like Palat, Dillon or Noesen. Reason being is if not, we’ll be up against the cap for NEXT year and still need to extend Gritsyuk and Nemec.

And all of that is to just run the same team (a year old) back. So someone (or preferably multiple players) has/have to go. We need some flexibility to be able to add to this team and we don’t have that right now or in the near future.

  6. I definitely agree that Palat would be a better cap dump move, but I worry we don’t shed him without retaining a pretty significant chunk of his salary.
