Kyle Tucker’s deal is a huge win for Red Sox

  1. Main meat:
“The Red Sox [know a little too much about that that last part](https://bosoxinjection.com/alex-bregmans-intro-presser-with-cubs-exposes-red-soxs-negotiation-process), but even as fellow pursuers of Bichette, it’s incredibly comforting that both he and Tucker eschewed the chance to go to Canada in favor of landing with a National League contender. Though they once appeared to have a stranglehold on the AL East, it’s now clear that the Blue Jays haven’t done much to separate from their rivals in Boston this offseason.

**Key Red Sox additions:** Ranger Suárez, Sonny Gray, Johan Oviedo, Willson Contreras
**Key Blue Jays additions:** Dylan Cease, Cody Ponce, Tyler Rogers, Kazuma Okamoto

There’s even a case to be made that the Red Sox — whose loss of Bregman has now been offset by Bichette — have gotten better than the Blue Jays, though that may come down to one’s long-term view of Cease. Either way, short of actually landing Tucker or Bichette themselves, this saga has played out about as well as the Sox could have hoped.”

  2. That said, Tucker and Bichette getting $60 and $42 million annually makes Raffy Devers’ contract look like a bargain.

They’re the same age, Raffy and Kyle Tucker. I didn’t realize that until just now.

  3. Thoughts?
Yankees haven’t done much, and may even lose Bellinger, and Toronto lost both Bichette and missed out on Tucker. I’d argue Orioles has done much better than both with signing Alonso and acquiring Ward and Baz.

PLENTY of time left for teams to move, but how are we all feeling?

  4. The Jays BADLY needed Tucker, or even still, Cody Bellinger, because there’s no way in hell Springer is going to repeat his ’25 season. They’re going to have to hope for healthy bounce-back seasons from Gimenez and Varsho.

  5. I still have the Red Sox third in the AL East, I think they needed to acquire a big bat and as of now they have yet to do so. Relying on Story to be healthy again and Mayer and w.e their plan at 2nd is right now is asking too much for a team with the Red Sox payroll.
