🤣. 4 ints in one half. Why are we even trying to defend that
Dumbest take I’ve ever heard.
Quote: “he uh, looked bad all year but uh… he won 11 games, so he’s doing something right!”
Hey genius, have you seen our defense?
The people trying to defend Stroud look silly. Â He sucks. Get over the denial stage of grief
The issue is that the bar should be higher than the divisional round. Texans likely overachieved in 2023, Â but no one was really pissed about the exit.Â
It’s year 3 now and CJ hasn’t gotten better and he has regressed well below the average. It’s not like he balled out in 2024/2025 and just had some oopsies the last two games. The defense drug him to the playoffs this year and he fucked them.Â
Fans might see CJ a little different too if he didn’t have all of his little platitudes that he doesn’t seem to be following. “I gotta play better/I gotta be better” he’s been saying that all year and still hasn’t done it.
Hold CJ to the standard he thinks of himself as. A top 5 qb in the league. I’m sorry I top 5 qb in the league with the same offense and this defense wins in Pittsburgh and New England comfortably.
I understand the take. It’s why CJ likely gets to start next year with competition. He has a stacked defense which helps so much. It’s okay to be a game manager while you develop. Idk if he’s just pressing to hard or something but whatever it is I hope he fixes it.
But anyone upset isn’t wrong I mean dude has been cheeks and has given almost no reason to believe he can turn it around. I still hope for the best cause that defense doesnt deserve to be let down by their qb again.
Texans would be dumb to move on. Some QB’s take time to develop. Look at Darnold or Mayfield. We know CJ has the potential based on what he showed in his rookie year.
The problem with the crowd that sees itself as the “voice of reason” is that, very soon, the Houston Texans have to decide whether to give CJ Stroud over $50 mil a year. If the Texans do that, it’ll be much harder to throw $$ at roster issues, because they want to keep as much of their defense intact as possible. I don’t think the Texans will move on from CJ this offseason, but we don’t have to baby him anymore; he needs a fire lit under him and to play better.
This sub is in complete denial on CJ NOT being the qb next year.
He will be whether you like it or not. Seasons over yall, take a break from the sub and come back in may. What’s done is done, we not getting anyone else
A better QB would’ve also won those games + would’ve beaten the Patriots.
Bears fan here, yall would be crazy to move on. You bring in competition maybe, but you do not give up on CJ after 3 years.
Here’s the the way I see it.
Give the Texans almost any other defense. Do you make the playoffs? Do you win a playoff game?
The past two seasons but especially this one, our defense was the reason we had a winning record. Trying to say ” Stroud did something ” because he played while the Texans won 7 games doesnt mean much.
Mitch Tribusky went to the playoffs twice. In 2018 they had the best defense in the NFL. Do we really think he deserves a ton of credit for that? Where is he now?
It isnt like Stroud is some abysmal player, but we really need to accept that he definitely isnt an actual factor in us making it to rhe playoffs. We know hes capable but he hasn’t shown much of that recently.
Put some talent around him this offseason, tank will be back and upgrade the OL, RB and TE positions. I think the talks about him being a franchise QB are done but you can put a more talented team around him so it’s not CJ or bust.
I feel his confidence has taken a dip after 2024 like when dell got hurt in kansas city. It feels like he’s been rattled since. I’m hoping he bounces back next season
But next season it’s going to be a make or break for him can he bounce back or will he fall once again.? I say he will bounce back but we will see next season
He can hardly take any credit for the Steelers win lmao
Talib’s podcast is in a partnership with Mulughetta’s “Athlete’s First” agency
Honestly what I keep telling people give CJ an actual Line not just random rejects from bad team. Actually fire our OL coach and hire someone that’s not from within the organization. Get some veterans to help the rookies.
If CJ sucks after all of that then yeah maybe it’s time to move on.
At what point does Burrow stop being mentioned in these convos? The same way Aikman said that Stroud is living off of his rookie year success, Burrow has been living off his Super Bowl appearance. The dude hasn’t even been close since that ONE year, yet he gets put in these “winner” discussions.
P.S. I know he’s talented, but I also know Flacco threw for like 500 yards in a game with those same weapons.Â
I would not say CJ helped win the game against Pittsburgh. The Defense and run game won. CJ is 2-4 if we’re being real
Is there any other QB in the league throwing as many hospital balls as CJ right now? A lot of people seem to be forgetting about this in the ocean of CJ suck we’re witnessing right now.
Man…I watched the tape again. He threw at least three more passes that could have been picked off with a little bit more ‘luck’. How anyone defends this bum is beyond me. It’s like he completely forgot how to play football last Sunday.
Here is the thing. They won in spite of Stroud. They won with Mills. They’d be on their way to the super bowl with pretty much anyone but Stroud. He wins wild card games. Wow. In the losses, the games haven’t really been close and he has double digit losses in all of them. He does not rise to the occasion.
If we’re being real Davis Mills saved the season and is the only reason CJ made it to the playoffs. CJ should get another chance but im not hearing enough credit for mills
You dont give him an extension during the offseason. You see if he can get his brain working properly. If he is worse, you dont exercise his option, but only if you think you can get a serviceable replacement. If you cant get a serviceable replacement, you do the option and see if he can get his act together in year 5. if not everyone parts ways. Simple as that. Stroud is not a bad regular season QB, but once the cold and wet winter playoffs show up…
He needs to be watching film and training all off-season get with tom Brady or something
He needs to figure out how to resolve the fear of injuring his teammates, the tank injury has messed with his mind
bad O-line don’t give you an excuse to throw the ball up for grabs every play! even when he had time to throw he wasn’t hitting the broad side of a barn. and Back to back games? did they not stress ball security after the first game? If he had been sacked in place of every pick he threw he might be playing the broncos this week. Some qbs get a bad case of the tunovers and can’t stop once they start. Jameis winston is a great example. Talented guy and can make every throw, but he’s not considered a starter mainly because he is turnover prone.
I just don’t want to waste another year of this defense. Even if Stroud can turn it around next year, is it worth the gamble? Maybe I’m crazy for thinking that a good quality backup would have taken us to the championship round.
He was 11th in QBR for the season. Herbert was terrible but saw every excuse in book for him. Shit what QB has been good this postseason.
People want to bench the 11tb ranked QB over a couple bad games in playoffs
Fucking thank you. Yes he’s had a terrible two games, and something with his mental game needs to change, but you can’t just ignore the fact that WR1 was out, TE1 got injured early, the whole right side of the Oline went down, and the run game put up a whopping 17 yards. Dude put up 212 yards and felt like he needed to play hero ball on 47 damn pass attempts, which was more than any game this season aside from the 49 against the Seahawks scary ass Dline. Not to mention the only QB younger than him in the playoffs was Drake Maye, and as stated in the clip, he’s a 3rd year quarterback with a playoff win every year and a 3-3 record, while Lamar is 3-4 and Allen is 7-6 in year 8.
My only hang up has been why mills gets credit for being 3-0 but the defense carried stroud all season. Either the defense carried both or neither
Most qbs don’t have generational defense and an all star kicker. If your best year is your rookie year then yeah you’re in trouble
