Penguins TAME THE KRAKEN in Seattle, how good is this team?

Connor Dewar helped power the Penguins to a 6-3 win over the Seattle Kraken on Monday afternoon, and now they’re making a move in the Metro! Patrick and Hunter begin the show recapping a very professional effort and victory on Monday in Seattle. Thanks to a two-goal performance from Connor Dewar, punching back against Seattle, and another quality start from Stuart Skinner, the Penguins have created some distance from those chasing them in the Metropolitan Division. (0:00) That leads us to a bigger conversation about how good this team actually is. We begin talking about the goaltending. After another good start by Skinner, has he passed Arturs Silovs as the 1A? Along with that, Rutger McGroarty has been sent to the AHL for conditioning, but does he have a spot in the lineup once he comes back? (13:05) Finally, what should Kyle Dubas do before the Olympics and at the trade deadline? The Penguins clearly look like a playoff team, but does this mean they should go shopping at the deadline? (23:39)

  1. After that game I’m even more on board with a Dewar extension…guy works his tail off every night and is playing like the second coming of Carl Hagelin.

  2. I agree 100% re skinner playing about 2 of every 3 games. Those otls could hurt pens at seasons end. U lose on tiebreaker of less reg wins n 5 points squandered so far. I hope pens make playoffs

  3. Been a Pens fan for nearly 40 years. No matter how good/bad they are, they're my team. Very happy to see some success this year. Hopefully we get to the playoffs?? I'll say it again I also want Skinner as the #1 in net. Great show as always guys!!

  4. The Dewar trade was absolutely insane what Dubas was able to do with those assets. After the original trade with Toronto and then with the trade for Clifton, the final break down is this:

    PIT out- 5th round Pick

PIT in- Connor Dewar, Connor Clifton, 2nd Round Pick

    HOW???? 🤯

  5. Great analysis, Yes indeed I do believe the Penguins are a good team at this point.
In my opinion most of it has to do with coaching.
Letang has really been making me eat some crow the last four or five games, Great to see him playing that way

  6. Letang is "day to day" with an injury the Pens just announced. Karlsson is back to full contact, and the Pens lose Letang. It's literally always a soul for a soul, it's seriously strange how it's like that lol.

  7. lowkey kinda wish we kept yager to see how he turns out instead of shipping him off for mcgroarty considering how little hes played and dubas's logic was they wanted someone to help and play now

  8. I’d trade all the ufas but I submit that’s a losing battle. But if Mantha, accari, and even Clifton (if he’s movable) are still on the team post deadline I’ll lose my mind those players don’t have a future and the penguins have direct replacements in the AHL they can call up.

  9. Crosby played his 1,400th NHL game, becoming the 12th player in NHL history to reach the mark with a single franchise. He also got his 512th career multipoint game, surpassing Gordie Howe (511 games) for fifth in NHL history. Mark Messier (513) and Marcel Dionne (513) are tied for third. Good stat Hunter. Copy Paste over and out.

  10. Do we have the best 4th line in the league? I mean damn. Any time they’re on the ice I have more confidence in them getting a scoring chance than our top line now. 😂

  11. For the rest of the road trip, they'll keep rotating. Silovs gets Calgary, and possible payback for the loss in Pittsburgh, then Skinner gets Edmonton, then Silovs gets Vancouver.

  12. Honestly, I'd be surprised if Silovs isn't traded at the deadline. Skinner's got a much better history in playoffs, and you can clear way for Murashov or Blomqvist to back up and get some NHL time.

  13. I could see Dubas moving Mantha since he really hasn't shown himself to be invaluable on any given line. I hope that he moves Hayes, just to open those extra forward spots for young-uns. At the beginning of the season I wanted to see Acciari traded, but, now, do you dare mess with the 4th line mojo?
I would not be surprised to see Koivunen and Pickering end up being traded. They've both had a few chances and haven't shown themselves to be ready for the NHL.
If he goes after Jason Robertson, I could see Mantha and Koivunen being part of that package.
