  1. Yea. He just got his medical procedure done. Its not like hes on ice trying to make a return. If I was the Olympics Team manager… id prefer a healthy player.

  2. Hell be back skating mid olympics, and allows him to build uo the strength, may take a game or 2 to adjust

  3. That sucks, but he’ll be more mature and still a beast when the next Olympics rolls around. Dude has plenty of time, at least.

  4. Fuck. Poor Leo. I hope he miraculously is able to get an invite and play a game mid February.

I hope he can cope with it mentally if not. I would be devastated.

  5. A small selfish part of me that prioritizes the Ducks is happy about this. All season one of my concerns was for anybody that is going to the Olympics is now adding in a couple weeks of balls-to-the-wall tournament games to an already crammed schedule. And it was clear Leo had been struggling with some sort of injury for a while now, but there’s no way he’d miss the Olympics if he could help it. So him getting February off instead of flying to the other side of the world to play 4-7 additional games is probably going to benefit the Ducks when it comes to a potential playoff push.

But the bigger more human part of me feels awful for him. I would never want to deny somebody the privilege of representing their country on the biggest stage possible. And I don’t like defaulting to the “It’s OK because he’ll be able to go to the next one” mindset because we don’t know that. 4 years is a long time and so many things can happen: more injuries, a weird influx of Swedish talent that gets selected over him, Leo pisses off the wrong person in the Swedish Ice Hockey Association, Gary Bettman wakes up one morning and decides “actually I don’t want our guys playing in the Olympics after all…” So if you can go now, then do everything you possibly can to go now.
