I would think the Texans would be a desirable spot for an OC. If you get even average QB play from CJ, you look like a guru. The team has a number of draft picks that can be used as well as a lot of young offensive talent that hasn’t really been utilized too well.
Honestly, hiring Mike McDaniel would’ve been a dream earlier in the season, but there’s a few problems here.
1. Firing a first time play caller who you knew was a first time play caller a year after hiring him I think would make some people hesitant. Especially considering he showed growth throughout the season. If I was a candidate, I would be asking “well then what were the expectations to begin with?” I don’t know. I just feel it makes the organization look unstable.
2. 3rd scheme in 4 years does very little to help your struggling QB
3. McDaniel at this point is likely a 1 year rental.
That would be insane
I pray we make him the highest paid OC. The good thing about it is you can kill 2 birds with 1 stone. See if you need to continue the CJ project and also have an actual creative mind behind the offense.
We could use another black coach. Don’t we get a compensatory draft pick for hiring a minority coach?
The last thing CJ and the offense needs is to learn a 4th new offense in 4 years
Would you rather be a HC or an OC? He wants to be a HC.
Literally every sub wanted him as an OC or HC, like 1/3rd of the league. Why are we acting like he’d want to come here by default? There are other teams out there with better QB situations.
Feel like we need a much better qb coach than OC. Caley’s scheme seemed cohesive towards mid-end of the year
Nick Caley is not getting fired. Good Lord.
I get the hype, but do you guys really want CJ coached by someone who is linked to Tua…
Can we interview him before we fire Caley?
Probably wouldn’t be good for CJ’s development or the O-Line to have their third OC in four seasons.
Hell ho
He’s going to the Chargers. We are not changing OC.
Probably going to the Chargers since he interviewed with them today and then cancelled on the Browns.
Sounds like he’s off to the Chargers
There’s literally a less than 5% chance we’re firing Caley and I think fans should come to terms with that. I’d expect Jarrod to go before him.

I can only hope
DeMeco did say that he’s evaluating his staff this week! /s
On some real shit, I’d be surprised if Nick Caley gets fired.
In hindsight really wish we kept Slowik another year and had he failed expectations to release him this week and get McDaniels would have been awesome
We aren’t

Mike McDaniel did NOT coach at John Carroll University so he’s out.

I think you know the answer…

Even if we did go after McDaniel doubt he would’ve picked us over the Chargers
Chargers have a better qb, better running back, far better offensive tackles, better tight end, and decent enough receivers
Yes they can fire Caley if they want. I don’t think they will though.
