  1. DAY 430 (1033/533) on THE ROAD TO THE 2026 6TH WBSC-MLB WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC and 180 YEARS OF BASEBALL – The Eve of the Collegiate Season and Two New Hall of Famers

Congrats to the champions of the Nicaraguan, Colombian and Roberto Clemente Leagues! And the best of luck to those competing in the Dominican League Championship.

Yesterday, we officially welcomed two more players who will by July accept the highest honors in baseball: honorary recognition by the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown.

Andruw Jones and Carlos Beltran, each having served many great years in the sport and were among the pioneers of the WBC, with this year celebrates its 20th anniversary, will by this summer accept the formal gratitude and appreaction of a sport that still continues to honor their playing careers.

Come tomorrow, fans, the baseball world officially begins the 167th collegiate baseball season with the huge excitement and anticipation, as with the NAIA season officially beginning, nearly half a year of collegiate stadium gamedays featuring the sport’s future generations of players from colleges and universities all over North America will begin. This new season, while being identical to those of the past, will featuring the enduring collegiate ballgame culture, traditions and atmosphere in the many collegiate varsity teams that begin play beginning this Thursday- which also serves as the opening day of the California Winter League.

This week indeed serves thus as a first of many that will feature baseball for this calendar year in North America.

    For Glory

    John

  2. Trivia stat:

    In High-A Midwest League:

    – average population of its cities: 96,276 (2020 census)

    – average attendance per game: 3,733

Based on both figures, **1 in 53** of these cities’ people attend the baseball game in their home park. 1/53 of the population of LA (without the rest of the LA metropolis) makes 73,561.

Quite impressive for high-A ball. Baseball, at least attendance-wise, isn’t dying? Or is it the non-baseball entertainment at ballparks?
