Tottenham Hotspur are now planning a ‘transfer attack’ to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha, who could be available for around £52m in the January transfer window, according to BILD.

Spurs have so far completed one senior signing in the January transfer window, with Conor Gallagher arriving through the door from Atletico Madrid. The north London outfit allowed Brennan Johnson to depart, joining Crystal Palace, so it’s been one in, one out.

After a disappointing start to the campaign, reinforcements will be necessary in the current January transfer window. Thomas Frank is under pressure, but a recent 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League has likely bought him more time, although results will certainly need to improve in the Premier League.

Tottenham Planning Transfer Attack on Nmecha

According to a report from BILD, Tottenham are planning a ‘transfer attack’ to try and sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Nmecha in the January transfer window. The former Manchester City academy star featured against Spurs in the Champions League on Tuesday night, allowing the north London club to take a closer look at him.

It’s claimed that the Bundesliga club are unlikely to let him depart for a fee under £52m, with multiple sides in the Premier League showing an interest. Nmecha, described as ‘exceptional’ by Nuri Sahin, was asked about a possible move back to England before Dortmund’s game against Spurs, but the midfielder insisted his focus was on their Champions League clash.

“Whether I want to play in the Premier League or not, I’m not going to say right now. I think for me it’s simply important that we win this game [against Tottenham] and that I hopefully enjoy this special day.”

Tottenham Remain Focused on Midfield Additions

Despite bringing in Gallagher earlier this month, Tottenham remain in the market for further midfield additions. Rodrigo Bentancur is set for a lengthy spell on the treatment table due to injury, while Frank confirmed earlier this week that Joao Palhinha had also picked up an issue.

It’s been a disappointing season for the north London club, and considering their midfield injury problems, it’s no surprise that a new midfielder could be targeted after Gallagher. It could be a busy end to the January transfer window for Spurs, as they aim to build a squad capable of climbing back into the top half of the Premier League. Nmecha would offer Spurs a different profile in midfield, with Como scout Ben Mattinson suggesting that he’s good enough to ‘replace Rodri’ at Man City.
