Mel Kiper Jr. (On Bain To WAS)
“NFC East quarterbacks and offensive tackles aren’t going to be happy if Washington goes this way. Bain knows how to reach the quarterback, with 9.5 sacks and 17.5 tackles for loss in 2025 (including a sack and 2.5 TFLs on Monday night against Indiana in the national title game).
He has a great mix of power, speed and bend, and the Commanders could move him around on the defensive line to create mismatches. Von Miller led the team with nine sacks this season, but he will turn 37 in March and isn’t under contract for 2026. This is a clear need for Washington after the defense allowed 6.0 yards per play, tied for third worst in the league.”

  1. That would be a F for this team he is not a F player it’s just a bad pick for the commanders with all the Edge rushers that came out last year and they didn’t pick one it just doesn’t make ant sense to pick him in this draft they have to pick a LB the over look this position every year

  4. Mel Kiper Jr. (On Bain To WAS)

“NFC East quarterbacks and offensive tackles aren't going to be happy if Washington goes this way.

Von Miller led the team with nine sacks this season, but he will turn 37 in March and isn't under contract for 2026. 5. Trade down, multiple times if possible, staying AROUND the top 10. Use the number 7 pick to fill in for not having any 3rd or 4th round picks. I don’t say this condescendingly, but it seems a pretty obvious move given the glaring needs of this team.

  6. Peters looks for appropriate value in trading and appears to pick best player available rather then picking for need. I will be very disappointed if he picks based on need. The greatest need for this team is to overcome the horrible actions of Snyder and Rivera leaving a team with about 11 players out of 52 spots that arguably were worth keeping. The destructive and ignorant behavior that preceded Harris, Peters and Quinn means that the team should only use their #1 pick, as opposed to trading down, if the available best player is considered to be outstanding or the value offered to trade down is insufficient. I don't know if Peters will feel Bain, Downs or Love are that fantastic, but they do pose the possibility of receiving a late 3rd round, 5th or 6th round and of course late first round pick. I also think they might take Love despite having Bill. a later first round pick may still leave a solid D-end like Akheem Mesidor. I suspect, if Bailey is available they will take him.

  7. That's silly, Sperry. Rather than taking a top 7 guy because you think he's not a game changer, you want to take two guys who are even less likely to be game changers. If all you want to do is fill positions with lesser talents, you can do that through free agency. You dont get a shot at top 7 talent often if you are a good team. You have to take those shots when you can. If you can't find a game changer at 7, how the hell you going to find one lower down, even with 2 picks? If you want to drop down a few spots and pick up a second rounder, fine, but to pass on a blue chip prospect for a couple of lesser lights is silly. If you'd rather take Downs than Bain, that makes more sense, but trading down just to get one additional pick of lesser quality does not. Safety is definitely a position of need on the Commanders. You should have led with that.
