BOMBSHELL:Milwaukee Brewers Send Freddy Peralta to New York Mets—Did the Brewers Get ENOUGH Back?

Milwaukee Brewers shake up their rotation , sending ace Freddy Peralta and Tobias Myers to the New York Mets in a blockbuster deal.

With Jett Williams and Brandon Sproat joining the Brewers, questions swirl—did Milwaukee strengthen their future or leave a hole atop the rotation? Chuck Freimund examines the trade’s immediate and long-term impact, spotlighting how Williams bolsters an already-loaded infield prospect group and whether Sproat can surpass his “back-end starter” label.

The episode dives into how Matt Arnold and Mark Attanasio navigate the challenges of building a competitive team amid Major League Baseball’s financial realities. Key topics include the Brewers’ retooled starting rotation, the philosophy behind not offering massive pitching contracts, and the enduring dilemma small-market teams face: stay competitive now, or invest in prospects for tomorrow. Will the Brewers’ farm system payoff, or has trading a proven ace shifted the NL Central balance of power?

  1. Stop crying about the rules in baseball. Your owner is just cheap and selfish and rather pocket the revenue than reinvest in the team. Brewers brought in 337 million in revenue last year and pocketed almost 150 million in revenue sharing despite spending less than nearly every team in the Majors! The org just tricks gullible fans into blaming “MLBs system” and their location instead of demanding accountability from their cheap and greedy owner.

  2. Where do we replace 20 wins in the 33 starts and 176 innings that we got from Freddy? Sproat was 8-6 in AAA and 0-2 in 4 September starts with the Mets. Williams spent most of last season in AA, batting .285 before hitting .209 in 34 September AAA games. Sproat was the Mets' third-ranked pitching prospect and Williams was their tops ranked infield prospect. But Williams is ranked be!ow the Brewers' top three prospects – infielders Made, Pena and Pratt in Baseball America's top 100.

  3. Oh cmon now ur blaming mlb rules? For losing your ace, that’s just ridiculous…ur ownership just doesn’t want to pay to keep players. Just about every Midwest team seems to be cheap.

  4. Food for thought difference between Woody and Freddy is the commitment to do whatever the team needs are that's why Woody is a Brewer and Freddy is now a Met. How many Games in reality did Freddy win without offense and how many games he pitch more than 5 innings pitch count extremely high constantly in trouble Defense bailed Woody out alot. Woody is declining unless he has a defense he relies on defensive help and Offense.

  5. This is a good trade#chuck. We should've got more.. another body or a pick but I'll take it. Freddy was only going to get us so far not being able to throw less than 100 pitches (as hard as he can) through 5 innings. Freddy is a thrower not a pitcher.

  6. The Brewers just suck. The Packers signed Parsons and Love because the NFL has revenue sharing and caps baseball is aweful Brewers will never win anything exept maybe their division because their division sucks

  7. Why don’t we just admit the Brewers are a AAAA team? Another short utility fielder? I’m sick of hearing about 5’7” guys with “pop”. We needed a legit power hitter. I was giving Attanasio a pass because of payroll disparity but I think he is just a cheap carpetbagger taking advantage of gullible Midwesterners.
Yelich still has back problems, he won’t return to MVP status.
If we win 90 games, Pat Murphy will be a HOF shoo-in.

  8. Cheap owner who dumps great players in there prime for players that will never help our own team win smh Brewers will never win a championship such a joke of an organization the guys we got back will not help this team win
