6. Rather than a trade for an expensive bat like paredes or Horner, What are your thoughts on doubling down on the defence and going for a contract swap for contract like Javier Baez for someone like Masa and a prospect?
   – contracts are the same length
   – tigers save a little money
   – frees up room for Colt Keith to be the superutility or the #1 prospect McGonigle to play short

   Baez wouldn’t need to hit at the top of the order but he’s still a great defender, he’s a right handed bat and it frees up the DH spot with the Sox to either use it as a rotation or Casas when he’s back.

7. I think another trade is going to be made however Breslow has been working quietly all off season so I'm guessing he's going to get someone no one is talking about. Pitching and defense is crucial but another bat is also crucial ⚾🤞

14. Looks like our offensive output last year was top ten. That’s with a rookie Roman and a year with Breg having under 450 AB’s AND with Celo and Roman having late call ups and early exits. I’m thinking we will be at least on the same level offensively rn AND our pitching is far better. Shore up the defense and see what full seasons of the Youngbloods can do with a bona fide first baseman with more power than Breggy will do.

20. I don't think they will. I think they're going to keep trying for Marte until the Dbacks are ready to o0en talks again. But I think we start the season with Mayer at 3rd and Gonzalez at 2nd base, maybe Campbell if he has a good spring training. With this front office I don't think they're rushing into anything

21. The identity of the team is that ownership is unbelievably cheap and Breslow is a pathetic lapdog. Is this not patently obvious by now? Defense without power hitting? Great. So instead of losing 7-1 they lose 2-1. Awesome.

22. Even with the errors though 4.17 runs allowed per game is a crazy number. Cut those errors down even 1/4 and maybe we're talking a sub 4 or 3.75 runs per game which is crazy good.

25. I'd say the defense is the main concern. Outfield is best in baseball but making double plays and turning hits into outs on the infield is what makes a difference. Plus it will open up tools for your pitchers to work with. Pitching to contact, knowing a ground ball for sure equals an out, saving bullets for later in the game.

26. What?!? Mets just got Peralta for a package very similar to the value of Early and Arias. I'm not pulling the trigger on sending that much value for Hoerner. Yea Hoerner is good but he's not nearly as valuable as Peralta.

27. Judging by the offseason moves around the league; the majority of moves are off the radar. The exceptions are Schwarber and Bellinger returning to their teams.

29. Cubs fan here…yes the price for Nico would be incredibly steep…we are talking about a 6.2 WAR player last year. Cubs dont have to trade him which is why they are in the Drivers seat. Plus Nico i think hit .378 or something insane like that with RISP. Something you just mentioned would be highly valued. Personally its all about pitching for me so even though Arias looks pretty good I think I would first ask for Tolle. We are losing…Taillion, possibly Imanaga, and Steele soon after so pitching is a must. But your proposal may be enough.

30. Corbin @ Red Seat Radio made a case to trade for Xander Boegarts with like a $100 million coming back for Kutter Crawford.

    I was thinking Duran for Xander, Ethan Salas, and $90 milllion.

    That would put Xander at about $14.25 milllion per year.

    He has well above average fielding value, is still an average MLB hitter. Does not strike out, takes his walks, for a solid OBP. His SLG percentage is what has declined, but Fenway vs. Petco could maybe help with that.

    The downside is eight years ending at age 40.

    Would you make that trade?

41. Hoerner will improve the offense and the defense. Duran for Hoerner upgrades the team in every facet but power. GG 2nd baseman, 49 K's, 30 steals.
    If Duran isn't what the Cubs wan't, I still think Duran to Pittsburgh for Jared Jones is a possibility. That would offset the loss of Early
    Trade
    Xavier Edwards would be another player to consider

42. Connelly Early should be untouchable! The guy will be elite at some point. Trade Bello, Tolle, even Duran if they overpay. But do not touch Connelly Early.
