[Thibodaux] Chase Utley ended the pre-results portion of ballot season at 69.0%. We’ve added 15 post-results ballots since then and Utley has been on 13 of them! With 260 ballots tracked, Utley sits at 70.0%.

Utley has *never* been at 70% in the Tracker (min. 10 ballots) until a few minutes ago.

  1. With Beltran and Jones off the board now, I think he likely gets in next year. Posey is the only enticing new ballot addition.

  2. Separate from him as a person, which I have no idea about and don’t hold the bitterness other Mets fans do towards him; he’s just not a hall of famer and it’s weird how wrong the voters have this.

edit: I forgot this is the baseball sub. Why was I expecting redditors to know anything about baseball. Below average WAR for a HoFer in the position AND mediocre counting stats for those who don’t care about WAR. If we want an expanded hall where marginal players get in that’s fine, but there’s about 50 other players who should have gotten in already if we are doing that.

  3. Listen, I know we all hate Chase Utley and our hatred of him is rational and equal, but he is definitely a hall of famer.

  4. Fuck Chase Utley, I’ll take my DVs lol. And I’m sure my opinion doesn’t hurt his inevitable award.

And for the record, no, I don’t think cheaters should have a HOF spot.

  5. I think Utley should get in, as well as Posey. The real question is Felix. Am I crazy for saying if you consider Felix you need to consider Johan?

  6. Happy for Utley. Hopefully with Jones, and Beltran in and Posey and Utley being the only locks next year, it’ll help Pedroia gain some momentum

  7. I feel like letting Utley in would be a nice way to counter Beltran. A Dodger (Philly, I know) who fucked over the Mets in exchange for a Met (Astro, I know) who fucked over the Dodgers.
