Better late than never

  1. GOOD.

The fact that a tiny, but vocal, minority of people push back against this is why it’s still needed.

EDIT: mods plz don’t ban for politick.

  2. Cool. Can we just skip all the games in March tho and go straight to April. March is our Achilles.

  3. Not sure if it’s just face-saving or not, but the article says that this game (People of Hockeytown) was always supposed to include pride, it just wasn’t explicitly called out.

Now that the community has pointed out the lack of pride, they’ve specifically named it as part of the diversity the People of Hockeytown night is meant to celebrate

  4. I am SO HAPPY they did this!!!!! It honestly broke my heart that we were one of 3 teams that didn’t have pride night this year

  5. Nice. I had said something on a Redwings post that involved the Tigers mascot Paws and Paws liked it, so I hoped they already had something in the works.

  6. Cool that they are doing this, but also can’t help but fight the feeling they are just trying to cash in on a certain shows newfound popularity

  7. “The use of Pride Tape on players’ sticks was also initially banned, but that was rescinded shortly after, following the use of the tape by an Arizona Coyotes player.”

Excuse you, article writer, Travis Dermott has a name.

  8. I’ll be honest, I love the Red Wings but this has always bothered me. I’m glad they smartened up.

  9. Can we get some printable bromance valentines from the Wings? Raymond kissing Larkin’s helmet, Seider hugging Ray on the bench, the “Pop for Friendship” meme pic, etc.?

  10. Better late than never at least. I really hope they put more thought into it next year

  11. Report: numerous Facebook commenters now definitely not attending; probably were not going anyway

Breaking: confused Facebook commenters wonder when military appreciation night is

  12. “We always planned to celebrate it during people day because we think gays are people, really guys, we’re totally down with boy aquarium and gay cabin weekend, please give us your gay dollars again even though you’re sharing pride night with two other themed nights.” Sure. Whatever.

I know you’re not supposed to punish the behavior you want to see, but they put more effort into pickleball night than pride and this feels like throwing scraps so people will shut up. It’s giving “you were totally invited, your invitation must have gotten lost in the mail, but we super want you there!” Nah, just say you didn’t want to do it but people pestered you just enough that you threw it on the schedule half-assed. Because you don’t want to be the only team to miss out on that Heated Rivalry money. Sigh.

There was a Wings game and a PWHL game on at the same time the other night. I watched the PWHL game instead and had more fun, plus no gambling ads.
