1. When MJ said “Looking forward to coming to the United Center and seeing your jersey hanging up there with my jersey” I thought that wow MJ might actually be there for the ceremony tonight. But thinking about it again he might mean just seeing it in the rafters the next time he visits the United Center. MJ might not be there because he doesn’t want to take away from Rose’s night with his presence, but either way its awesome to see MJ support Derrick. Especially since MJ is mostly reserved these days and doesn’t go on social media like some other legends

5. This made me wonder when MJ was actually in the United Center last? It’s such a shame he doesn’t come around for whatever reason, it was cool to see Kobe at Lakers games when he retired.

6. Its great that MJ said this. But I’m still going to say this is ridiculous. No way derrick should have his jersey retired. He didn’t have a career to warrant it. He’s the most overrated sports athlete in chicago sports history. But, whatever. The fanbase wants it so it’s going to happen.

   And I say that as someone who loved watching D rose play and think he was a really good player. Just not a jersey retired level player.

7. Two of my favorite players ever. MJ is my all-time favorite, and D. Rose was my favorite for the longest throughout his prime before the injuries. I am so happy to see him get his props from the true goat of the game.

11. I absolutely love Rose and what he meant to the city but outside of a player dying I can’t recall someone getting their jersey retired for 3.5 seasons of good play and 2 seasons of mediocre play.
