  1. This is wild mainly on account of Sherwood's age. Even if it's not David Clarkson-esque ideally we'd like to see the Sharks have guys who will be good in 5 years and it's unlikely to see that out of Sherwood. Bold move for sure but not sure what its long term implications are. Feels like something to tell the team that Grier can pull the trigger, get Celebrini some help, and send a message to players in upcoming free agency that San Jose isn't to be slept on as a destination and isn't just looking for short term roster filler anymore, and wants SJ to be on players 10 team shortlists.

  2. Even if they don't keep him it sends the right message to players and the league. That the selling is done and they are building and attractive place for free agents over the off season.

  3. Nice move by the Sharks. Mike Grier do me a solid and call Tom Fitzgerald and let him know that GMs are allowed to make trades during the season. Think he got the DTs and is a bit confused.

  4. Sharks just smoked the Panthers. I was also not enthusiastic about the trade but I see what GMMG Is doing and with today’s win I feel like the Sharks are actually a wagon and aren’t going to fizzle out.

  5. well if you dont fizzle out in what 42 games maybe more why you expect they will fizzle out, also adding talent usually dont equal to fizzle out strange maths here sharks + more talent according to you = more losses… lol bad take!

  6. I love Kiefer's game, but he's both earned a good raise, and with where Vancouver are at, it would be a terrible move to try to keep him vs moving him for the return(that 30 thing and the team being absolutely terribad right now). While some seem to be pushing for everyone but Kief and Zeev get shipped out for a bag of pucks, there are still good pieces on the roster that could be useful to have on a rebuilding roster.

  7. As a vancouverite, this hurts to not see us get a first back. Sherwood ought to be one of the biggest guys on the trade block, total gamer

  8. I don't thing it's a bad trade, but I don't think it's the right trade. I think it's great they are pushing for the playoffs as they should, especially building a winning culture, but I think those assets are better used for younger prospect with potential, especially on defense.

  9. Our PK needs help so thats a great start, just feels an unnecessary move at this stage, seems early to pull the plug on draft capital as we clearly arent ready yet. Misa played his best game so far in his nhl career and chernyshov looks a ready calibred nhl guy. Regenda has also emerged as a depth power forward/grinder who has a great net presence and scoring touch. Sherwood would be absolutely ideal if this was a year or two later. However I do beleive we make the playoffs and he would be absolutely phenomenal in the playoffs. As you say celebrini needs rewarding and this could be the player who slots in on eklunds line and give us depth pop and scoring and eventually brings us back to the playoffs. Heres hoping.

  10. Love Sherwood on and off the ice – as a Sharks fan I'm stoked to see an aggressive get like this. Even if the potential playoff run is shattered, I think you're right this is a reward for good play. Sherwood will lighten everyone else's workload a little bit with his energy and skill, bring veteran experience to a painfully young team, and help bear the responsibility of enforcement/protecting the young talent.

While they risk losing him end of season, he probably wants to stay in the Bay – it's a great place to live and the future is Teal, Go Sharks!
