The Rangers have signed left-hander Austin Gomber to a minor league deal, according to Aram Leighton of Just Baseball. Gomber’s deal includes an invite to MLB Spring Training next month.

  1. I like this signing. Minor league deal so there is zero risk, and Gomber has shown the ability to at least a league average arm in the past. And of course his raw numbers look worse than they are due to Coors.

  2. Although he keeps the walks down, gets weakly hit balls, and has a nice pitch mix, his strikeout rate is abysmal. He gives up a lot of hits, has little velo, and gives up a lot of fly balls. Hope our pitching staff can get something out of him, and if not, he’s dispensable.
