1. After getting bombed for five goals in each of his last two games, Blackwood finally puts in the effort and nearly gets a shutout. He was lucky on a number of shots and lucky Nylander wasn't playing, but still a huge improvement over his previous efforts (or lack thereof). Bednar must have had a long talk with him about justifying that fat contract.

4. As talented as Mathews is, when he’s not trying, he’s no where near a great player.
   This is two seasons in a row of him floating and acting like he don’t care to be a leaf.
   If by trade deadline it’s looking like they’re not going to make the playoffs, I would talk to him about allowing himself to be traded.
   The trade deadline will be the most valued time to trade him.
   If I have to guess he’d probably be happy about the proposition.
   I would try and trade Reilly also.
