  1. I don’t care to make this one a contest. They both mean a ton to Chicago. And that is really all that needs to be said.

  2. I’m not from Chicago so I can’t speak to that but I will say.. DRose was like my MJ since I never watched 90s NBA (no access/too young) and DRose was what got me into the NBA so he means more to me than MJ haha.

  3. As someone who watched way more of roses career than mjs, this is a silly thing to say. No disrespect to Rose of course who is still an icon

  4. MJ put Chicago on the map in a way that even today if I told someone in Europe I’m from Chicago, they’d immediately go to Michael Jordan

  5. Umm…. yes he does.

When MJ was playing my high school took a trip to Germany. 9 out of 10 people, upon learning we were from Chicago, the first thing out of their mouths was “Michael Jordan!”

(The tenth person was “Al Capone!”)

  6. Maybe to the culture of Chicago, since D Rose has stayed local.

But MJ is the best superstar in nba history, so it’s not really a far comparison

  7. Just read somewhere else, “MJ played for the bulls, rose played for Chicago.” MJ brought the city the greatest team of all time but the city was behind rose and wanted to see him succeed so badly. In the end of the day Chicago would still side with MJ over Rose.

  8. Depends who you ask, a person born 25 years ago (give or take?) Sure that tracks. But someone who might’ve seen some or all the 6 chips would look at you like you’re crazy.

  9. Michael Jordan was the most recognizable person in the world for a long time, and most people also knew he played in Chicago. Derrick Rose is loved by some people here. I, on the other hand, appreciate how good he was before his injury, but also will never understand or forgive him not returning for the 2013 playoffs. That was probably bad advice from his brother or agent, but imagine any major star refusing to take lay once cleared by doctors. He also never attended a single class in college, and that amongst other things led to Memphis being penalized. Their official record that season, formerly 38-2, is now 0-1. Any credit that anyone gives his college year towards his HOF case should be explained that he should get zero or negative credit for that year. Not a great career from an integrity perspective, until he became a journeyman and matured.

  10. Dude is a moron.  The love shown for Derrick Rose was a direct result of Jordan did for this city.  It had been a massive drought, zero stars until DRose hit, he ignited something in the fans that hadn’t seen since the Jordan era.
