**BOSTON, MA**—The Boston Red Sox have added fourteen non-roster invitees to the team’s 2026 Spring Training roster: infielder **Mikey Romero**, infielder/outfielders **Max Ferguson** and **Tyler McDonough**, outfielders **Allan Castro** and **Braiden Ward**, catchers **Nate Baez** and **Ronald Rosario**, catcher/first baseman **Nathan Hickey**, right-handed pitchers **Tayron Guerrero**, **Seth Martinez**, **Wyatt Olds**, **Noah Song**, and **Jacob Webb**, and left-handed pitcher **Jeremy Wu-Yelland**.
**Mikey Romero, INF –** Romero, 22, is ranked as the Red Sox’ No. 6 prospect by MLB.com. The left-handed hitter played 111 games in 2025 between Double-A Portland (66 games) and Triple-A Worcester (45 games), batting .245 (109-for-445) with 33 doubles, four triples, 17 home runs, and 76 RBI. He made 45 starts at third base, 27 at second base, 20 at shortstop, and 17 as the designated hitter. Selected by the Red Sox in the first round (24^(th) overall) in the 2022 First-Year Player Draft, the California native has hit .255 (251-for-986) with 69 doubles, 13 triples, and 34 home runs in 242 career minor league games. He will be attending his first Major League Spring Training camp.
**Max Ferguson, INF/OF –** Ferguson, 26, split 2025 between Double-A Portland (99 games) and Triple-A Worcester (19 games), batting .205 (79-for-386) with 13 doubles, one triple, nine home runs, 52 runs scored, and 34 stolen bases. The left-handed hitter made 53 starts at second base, 24 in left field, 13 in center field, eight at first base, six at shortstop, four in right field, two at third base, and two as the designated hitter. Originally selected by the San Diego Padres in the fifth round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft, the Florida native has hit .210 (280-for-1,332) with 53 doubles, 13 triples, 24 home runs, and 160 RBI in 388 career minor league games. He was acquired by Boston from San Diego in a four-player trade on August 2, 2022.
**Tyler McDonough, INF/OF –** McDonough, 26, played 79 games for Triple-A Worcester in 2025, batting .254 (68-for-268) with 12 doubles, two triples, five home runs, and 27 RBI. The switch-hitter made 34 starts at shortstop, 17 in left field, 16 at second base, and nine in right field. Selected by the Red Sox in the third round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft, the Ohio native has hit .246 (390-for-1,584) with 81 doubles, 18 triples, 28 home runs, and 178 RBI in 445 career minor league games. He will be attending his first Major League Spring Training camp.
**Allan Castro, OF** **–** Castro, 22, is ranked as the Red Sox’ No. 20 prospect by [MLB.com](http://MLB.com) and No. 26 by *Baseball America.* The switch-hitter spent 2025 with Double-A Portland, batting .268 (91-for-340) with 20 doubles, two triples, seven home runs, and 37 RBI in 92 games while making 63 starts in center field, 14 in right field, 13 as the designated hitter, and two in left field. Signed by the Red Sox as an international free agent in July 2019, the Dominican Republic native has hit .250 (380-for-1,520) with 87 doubles, 23 triples, 35 home runs, and 180 RBI in 422 career minor league games. He batted .262 (11-for-42) with four doubles, one home run, and eight RBI in 12 games this offseason with the Toros del Este of the Dominican Winter League. He will be attending his first Major League Spring Training camp.
These new invitees are joining existing non-roster invitees Jason Delay, Vinny Capra, Alec Gamboa, TJ Sikkema, Hobie Harris, Devin Sweet, and Osvaldo Berrios.
been following mikey romero’s path closely. i could’ve sworn he was at spring training last year. searched but couldn’t find any stats, thought maybe i was wrong. then found this. not sure why the write up suggests 2026 will be his first spring training
Anyone still pining for an infielder trade should view Romero’s inclusion on this list with some suspicion…
I’m rooting for Song, saw him in Lowell when he got drafted and before he went off to the Navy. Great story there hoping he makes it up at some point this year
Not the most intriguing year for NRI with the amount of depth that is in the 40 man roster and the amount of prospects that came up last year.
Is Romero really an option for some point this season (and is he a SS?) Are they ever gonna get anything from Song? Are any of these organizational depth catcher a legit option if someone gets hurt?
Beside that’s not a lot of storylines from the NRI’s.
