Angel Reese’s heartbreaking admission shows how much she misses basketball.
After being part of Unrivaled‘s inaugural season, the Chicago Sky star opted to take a break in this offseason, choosing to recover after a grueling WNBA season. In her time off, Reese has been spotted at Orlando Magic games to support her supposed partner, Wendell Carter Jr.
That said, the star made it clear that she misses playing basketball in a competitive environment. Her comment comes months after she chose to focus on recovering before the start of a new WNBA season.
On X, a fan posted a clip of Reese defending Unrivaled co-founder Napheesa Collier on the 3-point line last year. As Collier attempted to drive into the lane, Reese stymied her progress, with the latter poking the ball away using her long wingspan.

Retrieving the ball, Collier once again tried to get past Reese, only for the former to lose control of the ball. Brittney Sykes corralled the loose ball and tossed it ahead to a streaking Reese, who laid it in before the defense had a chance to react to the star.
What’s more, the clip on X was just one of many, which highlighted the 23-year-old’s play throughout that first season of Unrivaled.
Reposting the clip, Reese added, “ugh i kinda miss it” with a teary-eyed emoji, showing how she felt about not being able to compete.

When Unrivaled announced its roster for this season, Reese was nowhere to be found, leading fans to make their thoughts known on the star’s decision to opt out of the season.
“No Angel Reese season 2 unrivaled?! I actually can’t handle this day right now… (she’s booked and busy, I know that and I am soooooo happy for her and can’t wait to see what more she’s going to do this off season),” a fan wrote on X at the time.
Another posited that Reese’s rationale for not wanting to play basketball in her offseason was the fact that up to that point, she had been playing basketball almost nonstop. As such, the Sky forward needed time to properly recuperate from her various injuries.

“Ok walk with me here. Angel went from college szn to rookie yr. A wrist injury cut it short. Then went straight to Unrivaled. The same wrist (I think) cut that short. Then went straight to year 2 W szn. A back injury cut that short. She has a long career ahead of her. An offseason is well deserved,” the fan wrote on social media.
Despite missing playing in the league, Reese has still had an eventful offseason. She was in Europe to watch Carter and the Magic when they battled the Memphis Grizzlies.
She was also the first professional athlete to walk in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which happened shortly after the end of the 2025 season.
Reese has also been building her portfolio outside of basketball, as she made it clear that her salary in the WNBA does not pay her enough to sustain a suitable lifestyle.
