  1. do they even check what your background is lol? i feel like a player can play for any team if he really wants to

  2. Pretty lame being able to switch teams after you’ve played for another nation already.

  3. So his grandmother is Puerto Rican, but Wetherholt can’t play for South Korea even though his grandmother is Korean?

  4. These sorts of tournaments are foundational for an international scene and I love the legitimacy they are getting. That being said, I love how half the nationalities are just Americans citing their great grandparents. Like the entire Italian team is from like Staten Island. The British team has so many guys whose claims feel like they are from the Revolutionary War era lmao.

  5. It’s so funny to me that you can just do a different team. I mean I get it, he’s got a grandma from PR but it’s still funny to just choose a different national team

  6. They should follow similar rules to international Soccer IMO. One you make an appearance for the senior national team in a competitive match you shouldn’t be allowed to switch.

  7. I think it’s pretty wack that you can play for more than one team in the WBC. Don’t give me the soccer or basketball comparisons, it isn’t the same. If you played in a World Cup game for the US you couldn’t then go join team Canada the next one.

  8. I wonder if he’s having any secret meetings with other WBC clubs to play for them instead?

  9. There needs to be some sort of cap-tying regulation for these international tournaments. It’s ridiculous that you can play for different countries in the WBC. Imagine if Messi said “fuck it” and switched to the Spanish superteam in the early 2010s?

  10. Puerto Rico is just washed tio’s and I’ll still root for them 🗣️🗣️🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷

  11. Lmao the “world baseball classic” is hilarious why does anyone care. Half the great players dont play, and half play for random ass teams

  12. Kind of tacky to change nations…..but I understand wanting to rep the culture your family culture
