1. If this was football the owner probably wouldn't need to fire a POS like Cherington as the city would probably run him out of town. Warm up the tar, get out the feathers.

2. After they got O'Hearn and Lowe they should have reached out to Cutch and say hey this is the plan we see for you if you wanna come back. Maybe DHing against lefties and possibly playing the OF once in awhile and not for 5million a year. O'Hearn is the everyday DH as it seems right now and your not gonna pay someone 15 million a year to be a part time player.

3. You guys talk out of both sides of your mouth. You scream because the team hasn't shown the desire to win. then now you scream when they are actually trying. I am a fan of Cutch, but as a business man, there is no room for him on this years team, Period. The money is better used to sign a third baseman and a starting pitcher. Any money spent that doesn't address these issues FIRST is ingenuous. Stop being a hypocrite. If you say you're not? then you ante up the five million.

4. Gee. The Pirates front office being clueless about something. Who could imagine such a thing?

5. They're right on the wrong track again. Management has always gotten in the way of success and those that made it happen.

6. This is silly. Yes, Bux should tell Cutch yes or no. Does Cutch "DESERVE" this? How many millions has Cutch made? He played for them. They paid him. He got what they owed him. And He never really won ANYTHING. Cutch is turning himself (with y'all's help) into a mascot. Now Cutch looks like a whiny toddler to me. "3rd best hitter" on a lineup that sucked out out-by DKs own admission. There is a reason why no other team wants Cutch. Y'all need to stop looking at players thru your feelings. It clouds sound judgement.

7. In typical blundering Ben style this has been handled like absolute trash. It’s yet another blemish on the long list of mismanagement blunders. Ben has repeatedly shown he is incompetent and completely ignorant of the temperature in the room. Him still be employed is embarrassing. Run cherington out of town NOW

9. I've not liked Cutch as a DH for years now, but I DO like him a lot as a position player. His days of hitting for power are over. He walks a lot and hits a lot of singles. That's not what I want as a DH, but is he really so old and worn out that he can't play right field? If I was getting those numbers out an everyday or even a backup outfielder I wouldn't be mad. And are we really going to say that Cutch is less valuable than someone like Jack Suwinski?

   That being said, Cutch's recent tweets show that he is an athlete and competitor that the Pirates organization just doesn't deserve. He's a true Pittsburgh athlete of the highest caliber and only losers as incompetent as the Pirates organization would look askance at having him on the team. A legendary veteran WANTS to play for you, and you tell him you're not all that interested. Nutting and Cherington are jokes.

10. The biggest problem is that he can’t or won’t play the field and that really limits his value on the roster. It might be different if he could hit you 30+ HRs as a DH.

11. DK, please stop beating around the bush. Tell us how you really feel about GM Ben Cherington!

12. He will sign I just don’t think he should be an every day player I mean, can he play right field one day a week in platoon at DH against left handers come off the bench here and there

13. It’s Cutch, Big Ben, and Crosby those are the guys that have meant more to the city than the organizations in the 2000s

18. If the pirates sign him, it should ONLY be a bench player, NOT the DH..
    The DH should be a player like LOWE, Brian Reynolds,or someone like that to stay HEALTHY for the season..
    I like cutch just like most fans, BUT this is not a case where he cutch should get what he wants, like be the DH everyday.
    And I'm tired of people saying he was there 3rd best hitter last year..Well the pirates sucked last year..The only good thing last year was there pitching..SKENES..And they couldn't even score runs for him..
