DQ has a defensive system. he’s run versions of his system for a looooooonnnnnng time both as a head coach and a coordinator.
it wasn’t working.
he could have brought al Harris over who worked for him previously and knows his system. he could have brought in a number of guys who could run his system.
but he brought in a dude who knows a system that is thriving in today’s nfl. dude is not doing what’s safe while his job seems in jeopardy. he’s showing humility and courage to trust unproven guys and keep innovating.
still gotta win, but he’s going to go down swinging if he’s going down at all.

For sure, could have played it safe and comfortable, or retread as this subreddit likes to throw around when things go wrong but he brought in fresh blood with their pulse on today’s NFL
Kudos to the man, hope it works out and I’ll respect him if it doesn’t
He’ll get credit when the Defense is good
No idea if this is a good idea or not, but some sort of change was definitely necessary. I think it has more to do with bad players, though, than the DC–unless DQ’s system is really horrendous.
posting a photo of him with a cut on his nose won’t make him a good coach. Caleb – great offensive minded coach. Nix – great offensive minded coach. Maye – great offensive coordinator and great defensive coach. Jayden – QB as a offensive coordinator and a cheerleader as a Coach. So sad man
Seriously some of you need to up your standards.
I respect that he’s clearly trying something different this season rather than doubling down. Not necessarily confident it will work but we’ll see
I have my gripes with DQ being all rah-rah when we’re doing good but quiet and passive when we’re not, but this is a great take.
Blough played in West Coast offenses for his nearly his entire career (with the exception being 2022 when he played for KK in AZ). Seeing the Lions settling for Petzing and Kafka after missing on him also gives me some type of hope.
Daronte Jones has years of experience with aggressive hybrid schemes (which we were not) and the time he was DC at LSU, they were a middle of the pack/top half defense ranking #71/130 in points, #51 in opponent passing yards, and #48 in opponent rushing yards. And even though they’re a D2 school, Bowie State had the #1 ranked defense in the nation in 2009 and were top 10 in for all 5 years he was the DC there.
YOU’LL GET YOUR CREDIT WHEN YOU FIX THIS DOOR!!
Dairy Queen will get us to the promised land
I like both hires, no idea if it will work out but I think it has a chance to be great. If it’s not at least we gave both coordinators a shot
Sure DQ doesn’t know how to coach for shit, but at least he *knows* he doesn’t know how to coach for shit. Wow, now I feel great about next year!
Our fanbase loves mediocre coaches and players. Shits hilarious
What has Dan done? He did the same shit we all did and that was watch JD carry a shit roster into the NFC championship.
Dan gets this year and that’s it. He’s allowed to bring in whoever he wants, but they better work out. Right now we don’t know if that’s the case.
I hope these guys work out and I hope Dan Quinn is the guy. Right now I’m not holding my breath.
I give him full credit for hiring someone who was not in demand and has limited experience
No ❤️
Isn’t this guy a disciple of Brian Flores? That’s not a bad tree to come from.
So we hired a defensive guy that’s not even gonna run his system. His entire head coaching future rests on these coordinators. I respect that he’s not stubborn though. Might serve him well.
Have to agree, considering his parents are siblings, it is impressive he has amounted to anything more than a Walmart greeter.
