How do you guys feel about this , and what would be the trade packages to acquire both of them ?

  1. The trade package is Giannis saying he only wants to be traded to the Knicks, he’s not gonna do that

  2. Jrue is a a great person, but let’s not act like he’s not a former shell of himself during the last few playoff appearances. I’m all for adding him, but at what cost?

  3. If it’s possible, hell yeah, but Jrue’s contract is massive, so Portland would likely need to take on some money. KAT and Mikal would both have to go (probably to Portland) to make a deal like this happen though

  4. **This is probably not happening.** But I’ll play your little game…

KAT + every valuable pick we have remaining for the next 10 years *might* get us interest from Milwaukee.

Portland would ask for Mikal and Deuce – Deuce gives them a reliable backup for their young core, Mikal just satisfies the money and they’d move him in a season or two.

We’d be left with Mitch, Giannis, OG, Hart and JB as our starting 5 and have almost no bench whatsoever. Huk would be our backup center. Giannis really wouldn’t have a backup and if he got hurt we’d probably lose almost every game while he was out.

  5. I hate it. They are both 5 years removed from a chip and constantly injured in April. Great players but not worth gutting a team who made it to game 6 of the ECF last year to acquire them. Would just be absolutely stupid and hitting a nuke button you don’t need to hit. These two don’t make us title contenders they won’t even make it through a whole series without sitting a game or more out.

  6. Is the idea mikal and kat, can we save draft capital doing this, i rather have mikal than holiday any day, but for the duo id probaly do it

  7. Does this move put is in a better position to win or does it ruin us for years to come after ? Big risk

  8. Holiday isnt washed but he’s washed for what we’d need from him and in comparison to who we’d be giving up.

  9. The only thing I like about these rumors is that we keep OG. Been saying way too much crazy talk about that.

  10. Knicks better not overpay. We want a deal like the Lakers but the Knicks have to send out the farm?…KAT and alittle extra is good enough

  11. Seeing people wanting us to trade for Jrue really shows how quickly we forget the Steve Mills years

  12. People think we’re gonna get a free lunch it’s gonna be Mikal OG and Kat gone to take back Giannis Jrue and either J Grant or Kuzma. Plus picks and probably deuce.
If it even does happen it’s not gonna be as appealing as people think

  13. I’m good on Jrue Holiday unless he gets bought out and the Knicks can add him on a new contract. Just don’t see what players and/or picks the Knicks have are worth trading for Jrue straight up at his age and current contract. Are the Blazers even keen on trading him? They dealt for him pretty deliberately by sending out a young player and two picks for him. Blazers have some talent so if they package someone else / some picks with Jrue then a deal would be more interesting.

Obviously want Giannis but there will be a bidding war that I don’t think the Knicks can realistically compete in. Plenty of teams want him and can make better offers. Even if he demands the Knicks, he doesn’t have a NTC and the bucks would be doing a disservice to themselves to not send him to the championship contender that gives them the best offer.

The most common trade idea I see is KAT + Mikal (i.e. generally the two players that Knicks fans want to get rid of the most) + whatever picks the Knicks can salvage for Giannis, as if the Bucks would want that. The most realistic package to generate a competitive offer to the bucks would be OG + Mitch + picks. That would probably be enough, but a big 3 of Brunson, Giannis and KAT feels like it won’t work. KAT is difficult to trade right now but he’s not the issue with the Knicks. The issue with the Knicks right now is coaching, and Giannis doesn’t fix that.

  14. It would require

Bridges to Portland & all of our swaps to Portland

Portland sends its picks from the Lillard trade back to Milwaukee

Knicks send KAT, McBride & probably Kolek to Milwaukee

I would say that’s the minimum cost for the Knicks

  15. Jrue ‘s deal (including this one) is 3 yrs. I doubt he will live up to the level of performance we need his final season at $37m at age 37.

  16. I’d be doing somersaults while crying tears of joy. Lol.

Giannis alone makes us instant title contenders, if not favorites.

Jrue can still defend at an extremely high level and is averaging 17/7/5 with 1.5 steals for good measure. Not sure how that’s “washed” by any metric. He’d be the perfect backup to Brunson and a massive upgrade over Kolek and Clarkson.

  17. To me, in order to evaluate this trade you need to know the current state of the locker room. If it’s good or better, that’s one thing. If players are frustrated at KAT and one or more core players want the FO to move him out, that’s very different. I don’t expect anyone on here to know the answer. I’ll be at the game tonight, will be looking to see their vibe on the court. LGK!!!

  18. Holiday as much as I love him might be in his 2020 Chris Paul mentor in the bubble to a young 500 team era. Going from mikal to a guy that old is really guaranteeing that we gonna be in the lottery in 2-3 years so we would be really up against it to win. Im just not sure about it.

  19. Knicks receive: 🇬🇷 and Jrue

Bucks receive: KAT, Yabusele, Diadet, Kolek, minimum 2 1’s (I’d be inclined to say one would come from Portland because a straight Jrue-Bridges swap favors them)

    Blazers receive: Bridges

  20. Reminds me of when the Lakers went all in on LeBron past his prime.

Not only will he/them not be worth the cost, I hate trying to trade for a ‘ship when we are already getting there.

Every change risks destroying the chemistry and the team. We already lost a great coach.
