[Passan] The Washington Post has the best sports section in the country, and I don’t think it’s particularly close. Only a soulless corporate goon would think the paper is better without it. A short-sighted, cowardly decision. Shame is your legacy.

Did they cut their whole sports department? What?
Wap wap wap wap Jeff fuck em up
GETTTTTT EMMMMM JEFF!!!!

Bezos buying The Post is actually the worst thing to ever happen to them. An institution reduced a shambles and a mouthpiece.

Passan callout tweets
There is no shame after what The Post did in the lead up to the last election. They lost me forever so I don’t give a flying fuck about their sports section as the country burns.
Get their ass Jeff
But how do you feel, Jeff?
Absolutely BASED
Passan coming in HOT 🥵
Transforming the new wife into a plastic fuck doll and sending a bell-end shaped rocket into the stratosphere are expensive undertakings… got to make some cuts somewhere and he needs the opinion pieces to tell the proles how lucky they are to be living on $55,000 a year
Common Jett W

A different kind of passan bomb this time around I see
Passan Nuke
Side note, I finally signed up for Athletic as it was only a few bucks more on top of my NYT subscription and it’s so freaking worth it. There’s still something so good about pointed sports journalism covering your favorite teams and leagues that today’s talk show hosts cannot even come close to replacing.
With this news it feels even more imperative to support this kind of journalism.
Fuck Jeff Bezos cook his ass
Part of me doesn’t want the Lerners to sell because this goon will just buy the team and make it worse
The disappearance of newspaper sport sections is as sure a sign of the enshitification of the culture as streaming sports
So this is what he’ll speak out against..
We are going to have to make our own Sports column! With blackjack! And hookers!
Glad he’s speaking on it. Pure clownery going on. I sincerely want to know where I’m getting my Nats news now
That’s rich coming from a guy who left his newspaper job to go to an internet job who now gets paid $4m a year to break baseball news for free on Twitter for one of the largest media corporations on the planet. I can’t imagine why people don’t want to pay for a newspaper sports section anymore.
Insert the “we are all looking for the guy who did this!” meme here.
Well I’m glad I still have my championship editions of the Nats and Caps titles. That was the first thing I did the morning after was buy the post.
It’s sad but that’s just what happens when people don’t support it like they used to. I can understand Jeff wanting to stick up for his friends but if the post was losing money on it then they aren’t going to keep it around as a charity. NYT did the same for their section and replaced it with the Athletic a couple years ago too. It’s the new era of sports journalism and fans just don’t care that much about high quality writing when we have social media. But there’s nothing shameful about closing a part of a business that’s losing money
Cancel your Amazon prime subscription. Literally the only thing these people understand are money
Jeff on Jeff crime.
Channing Tatum – “My name Jeff”
I mean it’s probably not profitable. I’d be surprised if any newspaper in general is profitable in the year 2026
Too bad Tony Kornheiser is on vacation this week, would love to here his take on this entire thing. Monday can’t come soon enough (his podcast is great if you haven’t given it a try I highly recommend that you do).

Passan has such a way with words.
The Washington Post lost 100 Million dollars last year. Rich people don’t become rich by losing 100 million dollars every year
