  1. First Adam Mathews has to be ! Must be the Captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Now how things have changed. He is not Captain material. Wow and you suddenly figured that out.
He was a very skilled player maybe still is? Does have or ever have those qualities tendencies and leadership skills that many former leaf Captains processed !
I rather them do little to nothing than trade players that have actually played earned the right to stay and play for Toronto Maple Leafs!
    Players to move
    Robertson
    Cowan
Rielly needs to happen now or before the start of next season!
McMann unless he resigns for 4 4.5 5 yrs
    Jarnkrok With another player
    Stolarz ? With another player
    Hideby? With another
    Myers
See if there is any interest in Mathews Nylander?
    Players on the Marlies
Prospect that they are serious of giving opportunities to or part of a trade
Webber Chadwick Prokop Hyames Benning Mermiss Rafi Valis Danford? And others players who they picked up iether FA tryouts .
History is they give up on players for what ever reason they get picked off waivers traded in a package for rental players or they walk away only to find opportunities with other organizations.

  2. too many post-hoc opinions/intentionally hot takes in this one for me – Keeping Knies was the right call, going for it last year was the right call (and with that, given what Brad T inheirted) letting the mitch saga play out was also the right call. Sad how little playoff success the Marner era has had, but lets not act like it wasn't fun as all he**. Woulda, coulda, and most importantly shoulda won. It takes a lot of stars to align for victory, multiple REAL kicks at the can is what management should be setting up for, and I think we actually had that — and i hate to be overly optimistic, but I want to see what this roster could do in the playoffs, as it's made up of a lot of the "stuff" that the previous years rosters did not have. Timing of injuries is not something all rosters actually run into, in fact the opposite is normally true — healthy rosters win. Lets get healthy over Olympic break and go on the end of the year run. Won't be able to move rielly in year anyways, OEL has term left iirc so unless we're out at the trade deadline don't think that makes sense – he's all of the culture we want to build.

  3. Trade all the declining old guys nd trade all the kids with upside? Why is it always the same moronic garbage? It is simple. You determine what a players points are worth in dollars and you trade for KIDS that have the potential to far out play their contracts. How is this so difficult to see? Why do we have an endless stream of useless garbage on the team? Other teams want those over the hill worthless contracts so why the hell don't we move them for the same first rounders we pay to get those guys year after year and actually replace the useless vets with useless kids on the Marlies who might actually turn into something that costs us NOTHING???

  4. If you want culture change, Matthews need to be traded. Simple as that. Matthews and Rielly are the two that need to go for a culture reset. And without them, you need a rebuild.

  5. You really want to fix the Toronto Maple Leafs?
Trade Nylander. His attitude is horrible, he doesn't care about the team, and he's only in it for himself. How many more times are we going to be burned by his terrible attitude?

  6. Matthews and Nylander ARE the problem, look back at the Habs series, this series, that game 7, this game 7, this big game etc etc etc these 2 will never win a cup for this team and it is time to move on from them. The C hides from media when we get owned, willys flippin birds and dressin like eminem thats how little he cares.

  7. For the sake of the Toronto people, it's time to move the team. It's time just like it was time for the Arizona coyotes. It's time for the Toronto Maple Leafs to leave Toronto. You are wasting talent. You wasted Mitch Marner Austin Matthews, William nylander those three players have been wasted on the leafs.

  8. I would get rid of Treliving, and promote Brandom Pridham. Keep Mike Leach and elevate his position. Leach spent a ton of time in Dallas and Detroit and has a great record on identifying young talent. Pridham is a salary cap whiz. Get a structure similar to what you have in Montreal. AT a minimum, let Pridham audition for the job for the rest of this season. Don't let Treliving make the moves.

  9. That’s Treliving for ya. I remember when he was the GM for the flames. In on fleury, didn’t get him. In on Eichel, didn’t get him. In on Dubois, didn’t get him. Doesn’t know how to get a trade done unless it means overpaying for a middle of the lineup guy. He does manage to get free agents to sign but only if it’s a really long, bad deal. Good luck

  10. What changes? Easy: Trade Matthews to someone who is happy as opposed to disinterested when he or another Leaf scores a goal. To someone perhaps who seems like a leader.

  11. I have to wonder if Brad is being held back by MLSE not letting him do work on the roster. If Brad truly is being held back by MLSE, it might be time to have the conversation about whether or not MLSE is just as malicious with ownership as Harold Ballard ended up being, possibly more malicious. I'd argue spending to the cap without the desire to build a competitive team with the money or knowing when to pivot is just as bad as being cheap.

  12. I grew up with the 90's and 2000's Leafs. Why don't I hate those two eras of the Leafs? Cause those guys played to win, and wanted to win, and tried everything to win. So, they didn't hoist the Cup, and that sucks, but they at least fuckin' tried.

  13. You can’t do a rebuild kid you want to keep everyone who is good. You have to think big and strategically. Therefore the first step would be to replace Trev with someone more qualified

  14. Ship Nylander to the Wings for some package of picks and maybe a guy or two.

Wings are oversaturated with prospects after 10 years of rebuilding, they need NHL ready talent (especially for their potential Playoff push), they have the picks, they have the cap room.

    Call Stevie Y.
