The Magic Have Been VERY Disappointing
The Orlando Magic have been playing bad basketball as of late and were supposed to be a dark horse in the NBA but instead are a play in team. Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner haven’t taken a step, Jalen Suggs has been injured, Desmond Bane hasn’t been worth four firsts, and Jamahl Mosley has been under fire. The Eastern Conference is still wide open but things are looking bad for this team.

Banchero ain't perfect, but he hasn't been given a chance to fit into/lead an actual OFFENSE. Even if the owner sat Moseley down and told him "Get an offensive coordinator or you're fired", Moseley would spend one practice watching his team run around and passing the ball, roll his eyes, and go "I'm not here to play pinball, guys, dribble the ball and then put it in the basket."
He's an oversimplifier. Is simplicity sometimes good (mainly when easing young guys into the league)? Sure. And sometimes you need to complicate things, to adapt to the league and make your team a dynamic winner. Moseley isn't interested in that. He's here to run a bootcamp.
I feel like any time I’ve tuned into a magic game the past few seasons there’s always been at least one of Paulo, Franz or Suggs out. They can never stay on the court as a core group
Its very depressing being a magic fan
The offense is entirely dependent on getting stops/out in transition. In the half court, its drive and kick on repeat, ugly as hell, predictable. WCJ entrenched as the starter when healthy, yet routinely outplayed by Goga when Goga starts in his absence. Praying we make a move for Nurkic, who brings legitimate rebounding presence and whose skillset is great for generating points in the half court, our biggest weakness. Never see offensive sets generating post touches for Paolo, unacceptable when data points to how effective he is at creating points posting up.
Rough times here in Orlando 🙃
I am waiting for more Raptors content🔥🦖🤗, need your analysis on what happened vs OKC⚡️. No shade, I like both teams✊🏾
5 firsts for Bane is the main problem, literally no assets now, i think this team is going to end up in a rebuild and a fire sale soon
I think it’s time to be serious about who Paolo is. An inefficient shot chucker who is incapable of leading a team to the Larry. Orlando should ship him out for an upgrade at the center position and build around Franz.
Orlando Magic? More like Orlando Tragic.
Paolo isn't a #1 option. He's a trailer, not a tracker.
Magic got the same problems Memphis got injuries n bane jus went to the same situation
As someone who actually watches magic games, I can confidently say you’re underestimating how much of this is Mosely’s fault. He’s probably the worst coach in the nba. Terrible game management. Bad rotations. Bad timing on timeouts. Doesn’t know how to properly stagger our scorers. Isn’t respected by the team. Doesn’t call plays or know how to draw up plays. Has no offensive scheme (which has lead to us being predictable. The whole league knows how to guard us.) Doesn’t hold players accountable. Allows players to stand around off ball. There’s zero off ball movement. Allows players to not box out. We consistently come out the first quarter flat which is a sign of being poorly prepared by the coach. We never make meaningful adjustments out of timeouts or come out of timeouts with an effective play call. We’re constantly outmaneuvered out of halftime which is another effect of being outcoached.
You’re ignorant if you think it’s only a little bit Mosely’s fault. You shouldn’t speak so confidently on things you’re clearly ignorant regarding.
Paolo has had poor shot selection this season but that also has to do with the fact that coach hasn’t coached those shots out of him and he’s constantly double teamed due to the predictable offense that isn’t optimized to play towards his strengths. Paolo also came back from his groin injury with poor conditioning and took awhile to get back in shape so that held him back too.
Bane has regressed from 3 largely because Mosely doesn’t know how to get him open or utilize his shooting properly. Tyus Jones has been horrible yet coach refuses to bench him. Replacing Mosely with an even average coach would raise Orlando’s season wins by 5-10 games EASILY.
Another ignorant statement of yours is that we don’t have enough offensive talent. Between Paolo, Franz, Bane, Suggs and Black we have 5 guys who can go for 20-30 ANY night. The offense just has no identity or cohesion due to having a clueless coach. If you listen to Mosely’s press conferences it’s clear he’s clueless on offense. He thinks the key to our offense is simply trying harder on defense.
Mosely is just a smooth talker who is liked around the league. But at this point he’s lost the locker room. People credited him for Orlando’s improvements over the last few seasons. But those improvements came because of Paolo/Franz/Suggs and came DESPITE Mosely, NOT because of him.
Do better Cone. Don’t talk out of your butt about a team you’ve maybe seen 5 games of this season. Smh
They’re never gonna be a contender until they get a good playmaker and at least 1 more 3 point shooter.
Magic fans love to blame everyone but Paulo horrendous shot selection
JM is not blameless; however, the players haven't held up their end of the bargain. The Magic are a decent team, but if they think they are entitled to have a better coach, they are crazy.
I called it from the beginning that Bane was the wrong trade target.
RustyCone!
Jamahl Mosley has been the Magic's head coach for 5 seasons now (this season included), and the offense has still not improved. It's been partially excusable because of youth and development initially, and then injuries, but atp, it's not. Maybe a coaching change cpuld be the start of a shift for them. Putting aside the injuries and the offensive woes, I need some Magic fans to answer this: do Paolo and Franz actually FIT together? Have they ever actually FIT together? It seems to me that their play styles are too similar and they clash too often.
Problem with this team is there is no true play making point guard Suggs is basically Markus Smart. Also lack of shooting. They went all in drafting guys with defensive upside and are now trying to fix the playmaking shooting issues.
How don’t you have 100k yet I swear you had like 200 😭😭
Mike Malone would be a perfect for this team
I had high hopes for the magic but ig for no reason 🤦🏾♂️
