  1. Upset about tsyplakov but isn’t this a good deal? We literally get our 3rd round pick back that we just gave the rags + Palat

  2. Got defense and forward depth, an upgraded 3rd round pick and a 6th round round pick for just tsyplakov. Plus some additional veteran presence to help out in the home stretch. Not a bad return imo

  3. Best of luck to Tsyplakov – theres an NHL player there. He showed it last year.

Wasn’t going to work under our new play style. Fine deal.

  4. Scary bad trade after a bad trade yesterday. Sure, we recouped our 3rd but if we didn’t spend a 3rd on a bad d-man yesterday it wouldn’t need to be recouped anyway.

  5. The money is the issue. 6M owed next year for a guy with 10 points, 12 min per game, and is -5 plus/minus with declining numbers each of the last 3 years

  6. I wanted palat when he was ufa. I’m a little concerned that the devils must be thrilled with this. Roy will be thrilled Tsyp is gone.

  7. his AAV is mostly base salary at this point in his contract – im guessing isles may buy him out after this season

  8. Weird move but not totally against it, maybe I’m still hoping Palat rediscovers some of his form from few years ago

  9. Just as a side note if you buy out Palat at the start of next season you save $3.3m under the cap and then incur a penalty of $1.65m the season after which is not a lot in a world where the cap is going up.

  10. What is with GM’s bringing back their old guys? Hopefully this is more like a Palmeri situation, than a Leo Komarov situation

  11. Tsyp wasn’t doing it, too hit or miss. Palat is not much of an upgrade but it basically gave us Soucy for a better 3rd round pick.

The contract is manageable next year or they buy him out.

  12. What they should have done is got 50% retention from the devils and then could have retained another 50% and trade him to a contender for 1.5×2. But if they can still flip him for something we shall wait and see.

  13. Darche putting a lot of faith into the team, giving the a chance w this stretch before the break. A mini trade deadline, if you will. Worst case, he can still sell at the deadline if the wheels fall off

  14. Don’t love taking on his contact, but add on the picks and it’s a solid move for what we gave up. Hope Tsyplakov the best in Jersey and beyond!

  15. When was the last time the Isles made a deal with both the Rangers and Devils in the same season?

And does this mean the isles literally made a deal with the devil?

  16. Disaster trade. Tsyp had promise but they didn’t like him, but why are you taking on $6m for a garbage player for the next two years??

The only things you shouldn’t do this year is trade future assets or take on future money

  17. Palat will probably be bought out in the summer. It’s a $2.7 million cap hit next year and a $1.65 million cap hit for the following year.

Tsyplakov hasn’t been the same since the Flyers fight last season and he hasn’t been able to play himself out of the doghouse this season. There’s a good player in there, it’s a shame we don’t get to see it here.

  18. Good riddance typsplakov, maybe a reunion of palat and drouin will spark something for both of them or maybe he’ll just benefit from being around other decent players, I’m optimistic because I love this team, feel like some of you forget that aspect sometimes
