Like clockwork! After the Bulls win four of their last five, a new report emerges about how their recent play could impact their deadline decision-making. Time and again, this front office has fallen victim to small sample size theater.

  1. A tale as old as time. Bulls players temporarily pump their trade value, AK sees this as a reason to keep said value and do nothing, then same players fail at play-ins or when it matters most and tank said value.

  2. Why are people pretending like sitting with his thumb up his ass wasn’t always AK’s plan?

  3. Honestly, at this point I’d be happy if they did anything at all. Buy or sell, better than just consistently doing nothing.

  4. At this stage the more I see that man’s face I want to clock it. This purgatory has gone on long enough.

  5. >If they do not want to do that, then why not make a run at a big-name player right now?

    Just wondering.. who are the big-name players that are potentially up for trade?

    * Giannis
    * Zion
    * AD
    * KAT
    * Ja

    Have there been reports of others yet?

  6. the bulls wont get anything of value in return for expiring contracts now – two month rentals; nobody’s going to give up much for those; the bulls are waiting for the summer when the expiring contracts will expire and then they will have tons of cap space; sign and trades are also possible in the summer with the expiring contracts;

  7. Idk what we actually have to gain this time around though. Trade Coby for chips *and* salsa? Doesn’t seem like there’s a market for anything for us atm. Nobody wants to move their young pieces and nobody is trading picks for our guys tbh. There could be some ground with Jalen and Trae but if it’s just some 2nd picks or a rob dillingham project… no thank you. There is no strong or obvious path forward.

    All this is said as a guy was pro tank these last two years, but it doesn’t matter what I think. This FO is elated to barely scrape themselves in to the play in during a year with multiple key injuries in the conference. It just doesn’t matter and honestly, these guys will never get this franchise to be looked upon with respect by anybody in the basketball world. Fans don’t respect us, FOs across the league don’t respect us, we don’t respect ourselves.. this has been a really tough 6 years.

    *But* the machine still hums. The franchise is still very profitable. So nothing in this thread means anything, it just feeds our fandom and provides more engagement with the product. That makes more money, and makes ownership happy and content with the state of things.

  8. They will either do nothing or trade someone like Phillips or terry for a second round pick.

  9. Probably. So long as they don’t trade Benny, it’ll be what it’ll be. If they mess with Benny, I’m done.

  10. I honestly think he’d act the same regardless of the record. He doesn’t want to take a step back and he doesn’t want to trade cap space for future assets like picks.

    The types of moves AK is willing to make is extremely limited.

  11. The Bulls will likely be buyers this trade season, and honestly it’s better than doing nothing. We just have to see where Giannis goes to first, that’s what the entire market is waiting on.

  12. Bulls need to follow the bears blueprint and start making moves, then the money comes. This is a miserable era to be a fan.

  13. The worst thing about all of this and the thing that should get them fired out of everything AKME has done is not taken that NOLA draft deal. Imagine, they would be free to push for the play-in all they want to while knowing they most likely have a top 3 pick coming in a stacked draft. Honestly one of the dumbest moves in NBA history (besides NOLA offering the deal)

  14. This roster is not talented enough to do shit in the post season please for once make some good long term moves and set us up to get some value out of our assets instead of doing absolutely nothing and being mediocre

  15. – Take a flyer on Zion if NO happens to just want to rid themselves of him for expiring contracts. No draft capital should be surrendered, outside of maybe one SRP. Highly improbable NO is likely to do that, but have to at least make the call. From what I understand, his contract is non-guaranteed after this season, which eliminates almost all risk of adding him and him continuing to not meet expectations.

    – The T-Wolves are known to need another guard and have shown interest in Coby. Naz Reid could slide into the starting 4, or become the 6th man, and is locked into a good contract through 2029 (2030 if exercises his player option). This is probably an even bigger reach. BUT… Minnesota has to do something after losing NAW for nothing, and Naz is a luxury behind Randle and Gobert.

    – Trade Vooch to playoff team, if there is one that is interested. Only accept expiring salary and a young player with upside and/or SRP(s) in return. UNLESS, a team is willing to attach a FRP to a negative asset that has a contract that extends past this season for one to two years.
