CAUTION: Detroit Pistons’ Narrow WIN in Denver REVEALS Deep Shooting Concerns for Playoffs

Detroit Pistons squeak past a Nikola Jokic-less Denver Nuggets, but warning signs loom large for their playoff hopes. Can Cade Cunningham’s steady leadership and Tobias Harris’ clutch scoring offset glaring issues with three-point shooting and late-game decision-making?

Ku Khahil delivers a candid analysis of the Pistons’ 109-107 win, spotlighting Harris’ fourth-quarter heroics and Cunningham’s error-free play. Key concerns include Detroit’s dismal 19% shooting from deep, reliance on Duncan Robinson and Harris for offense, and questionable choices by J.B. Bickerstaff—most notably, benching defensive standout Ausar Thompson during crunch time. Upcoming matchups against the Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors (with potential injury advantages) create a window for momentum, but can the Pistons correct old habits before the playoffs? Don’t miss Ku Khahil’s breakdown of what must change for Detroit’s postseason run to stay alive.

  1. The 3 point shooting (and floor spacing) will catch up in the playoffs… you're right. But… how FAST we lose perspective. We were HOPING to make the playoffs last year… and the year before that?! Now… winning the East would make for a disappointing season? Standing pat and development isn't insane. This is Wild. 😂

  2. Javonte Green was amazing this game. Those 2 fouls at the end were horrible calls by the refs that we couldnt challenge. He was one of the few reasons we were able to win this game. Also, this narrative about just leaving Ausar in to foul out vs taking him out and not putting him back in is silly. Hindsight is 20/20. Bickerstaff has no idea if he is going to need or want Ausar back in for a critical stretch in the 4th or if he wont need him because someone else is playing great, such as Green. You dont just assume you wont need him. Had he left him in to foul out he would be getting roasted even more… You crapping on Green today while whining about Ausar yet again just shows you are more of an Ausar fan then a Pistons fan… Go watch the 4th and watch all the critical plays Green made. I dont understand this strange LARPy obsession with SIMPing over one player on a team like it's a celebrity crush or something. The Pistons are a team and I dont care if it's Green or Ausar getting the job done in the 4th. This game it was Green. Fine.

  3. Stop complaining about the Game we won it doesn't matter because they didn't have joker or other starters we went though the same thing with everyone out and we won because we shot horrible from three we did good on not turnovers I see times we do good on threes but loose because we had to many turnovers every team go through this every game no team have a perfect game it's all about wins and loses we always complain when we loose a game or come close to loosing shit we in first place enjoy it remember 2 years ago we was the laughing stock of the league so be grateful we could been that way again this year nobody expected us to be this good or be even in discussions of anything I been a pistons fan since 87 and I live in Maryland i seen every good and horrible experience you could think of shit so far we been happy with 34 wins and only complain or cried about 11 loses so relax 💯

  4. Duncan and Tobi are enigmas. Don't know if Duren is going to be a consistent offensive presence. All these reasons why my expectations is 1 playoff series win. Anything else is a bonus. A young team that needs more stability.

  5. I'm not sure how it all works, but I never see a comentator talking about it. If we give Caris + trade exception, don't we make up for Tobias, contract value in a trade?

  6. Ku don't worry. Yes they only won by 2 points and Denver didn't have Jokic, Gordon, Cam Johnson or Christain Braun but don't forget JB didn't have Caris LeVert so it's all good.

  7. I said it before a lot of these piston fans are not real piston fans. They’re Lions fans in disguise who don’t know basketball. Once you hear them start talking about 90s basketball and how physical it is or saying foolish things like we can win without shooting 3s you shouldn’t even engage in conversations with them

  8. Ku – they beat a team on the road that is what, 2 years removed from a championship? Yes, they should feel good about a W. We get it, you want a trade- but enjoy the ride too!

  9. Honestly they didn’t play well I agree, but they were in control the entire game. So that says a lot. Seeing how many missed threes etc… another “bad” win but it shows how good they are and can be.

  10. Cut JB some slack he is still trying recover from not having LeVert to close the game. You rant about Green making two boneheaded fouls and criticize JB for not playing Ausar who you just admitted was benched for making two boneheaded fouls. JB was flustered because he couldn't close with LeVert instead.

  11. A win is a win. I don’t care who was out. I thought Pistons played well but did not shoot well. They had a ton of open looks and missed. If they just shot their season average, they would have destroyed them. Yes, the fouls were bad. But otherwise, the D was suffocating – D carries

  12. perhaps last night was a coach’s measure as we come to some contracts and trade deadline . Comen playoffs he will keep the rotation to 8-9 excluding reed, green, sasser, Jenkins, klintman and Lanier. And Caris.

Ivey should be first off the bench at guard getting 22 min not Jenkins. I hope JB is using his head
