[Gleeman] Twins traded IF Edouard Julien and RHP Pierson Ohl to the Rockies for RHP Jace Kaminska and cash. Kaminska, a 10th-round pick in 2023, missed last season after elbow surgery. Julien is out of options, so he couldn’t be sent to Triple-A. Ohl had been designated for assignment

  1. Didn’t Ohl have some upside for back of rotation starter? Curious if Kaminska is considered more upside than Ohl – if not, seems a literal cash grab oriented deal

  2. Kaminska is ranked just outside the top thirty Rockies prospects from what I can find.

    2024 Stats: 87.1 IP, 2.78 ERA, 104K, 12 walks.

  3. What a massive fall-off for Julien. I know how common it is for hitters to flame out after showing brief flashes, and I understand there’s a razor thin line between “selective” and “passive” at the plate. But god damn, I figured someone with that good of an eye would at least have a decent hitting FLOOR to work back from. MLB pitching can and will exploit any holes, he just couldn’t adjust

  4. If you told me in 2023 that id be more upset about losing Ohl in this deal i would’ve thought you were crazy

  5. I remember when there was talk about both Julien and Miranda being pieces for the future. Now they could face off against each other in the AL West. Baseball is a harsh mistress lol.

  6. Eddy and Miranda both being gone for nothing while still in their mid 20s is such a sad turn. Never would have thought this would happen when they first popped up in the majors

  7. Once pitchers figures out that all your have to do is throw Julien off speed pitches to baffle him, it was over.

He is tremendously good at squaring up and identifying fastballs, but breaking it down his numbers against anything else was just brutal.

  8. If our boy Julien ends up back in AAA, I’ll keep an eye on him down here in ABQ 🫡

  9. There goes Pearson’s Candy Co.’s golden opportunity to release Pearson’s Pierson Ohl Nut Roll.

  10. I wanted Eddie to be good so badly. Hopefully he can hit a bunch of dongs in that light Denver air. He will have plenty of former Twin company in Denver too

  11. Just as Billionaires rejoice at the Dems and repubs bickering over trivial never ending issues that distract from the real problem, Billionaires not being taxed…
Likewise the Pohlads create repeating fan distractions in the shape of meaningless sideways trades and coach firing/hiring without spending so much as an extra dime, to shift the focus of fans off of their stubbornness to spend any more to be competitive. The wheels keep on turning and the Pohlads still need to be told to SELL THE TEAM

  12. Traded for cash, name a more iconic move for the pohlad family.

Add o a broken pitcher for the Fail-vey bonus.

  13. Very small sample, but Julien did have a really good September. Maybe he figured something out… I hope the Twins don’t end up regretting this.

  14. We used to brunch with the Ohls when we would summer on Cape Cod. We’ll certainly miss Pierson in the Twin Cities. In fact, our daughter was set to make her debut this year, and we were hoping to at least introduce them.

  15. I just think this isn’t a great trade. Trading an IF and a AAA assignment for a rehabbing pitcher and cash. Sometimes I feel like these teams get into negotiations then end up with a stinker of a trade because it becomes about getting the trade agreed upon instead of what’s good for the team.
