Red Sox roster projection: Will Boston trade for an infielder before Opening Day? Or pivot to a free agent?

It feels like we almost have to make a trade considering the weak FA market for our needs and our depth at SP and OF. This projection really highlights the logjams we got.
But this has been a deeply unpredictable off-season, so who the hell knows.
Whatever it is, it will probably be underwhelming when it happens, but hopefully turn into a good move throughout the course of the season.
I feel like we lack a true power bat. Where is the guy that can hit 30 HR’s? Thirty players hit 30 or more HR’s last year and we don’t have one of them (traded one of them last year and whiffed on two of them in free agency).
lol “Jordan Hicks is cut”
Overall a good breakdown but this reads like a mad fan on WEEI. That they took Hicks and his money to balance the Devers deal plus his live arm, can you honestly think they cut him in Spring Training?
I don’t believe they will add another bat before opening day (I hope they prove me wrong) that would make us a second wild card team if they do not make a move
Trade for Infielder.
I’d love to see them sign Eugenio and call it a day. Yes his D is mediocre but he adds RH huge power, something the Sox need desperately.
Unfortunately, there is no way on the planet this team adds to their tax hit with more payroll. It’s absolutely not happening. So, that means a trade, some money going out and weakening the offense instead of improving it.
Not happy about that prospect.
0% this ownership allows Craig to make Yoshida and Hicks dead money.
I’m still waiting for the two big bats to replace Bregman and Devers.
I’m sure we will be competitive.
Right now they’re counting on Story and Mayer to both stay healthy all year. Even if that unlikely scenario comes true they would be mixing and matching at the other position.
More likely is that one or both of them miss significant time. Then you see a lot of Romy against right-handed pitchers or Hamilton against any pitcher. Or they can significantly weaken the outfield defense by bringing Rafaela in to play the infield.
Neither
The Sox need another infielder, wither it be a 3rd or a 2nd passe. Do we need a 30 HR hitter? No but we do need a very good hitter and defensive player, maybe has some speed etc. I am surprised no other player as been done as of yet. I imagine the GM is going about it, but is it the written way. We have lots of extra pitching and outfields to use to make a trade for what is needed. It hasn’t been done and I am confused as the team hasn’t made a trade as of yet!
