Scrolling through Devils history and stumbled across this. It hurts

I had no idea that the pick traded to Carolina for Tuomo Ruutu turned in Morgan Geekie! How awesome would that have been.

Your going down a dark rabbit hole looking at what draft picks became. š
Meanwhile there are people who think bringing Lou back is the answerā¦
Yeah but that trade also allowed us to have both Ruutu and Tootoo rostered at the same time, clearly worth it
Devils fans can never complain about unfairness or “what if’s” when we were just given Scott Fuckin’ Stevens as compensation because the Blues signed Shanahan as an RFA.
The pick we traded to Carolina to re-aquire Ponikorovsky turned into Jaccob Slavin
Add it to the list.
Although us picking Geekie there would have had a 0% chance of happening.
Also, I would not recommend looking at the next 5 picks after Lou’s for about his last 15 years as the Devils’ GM.
Oh man, I loved Loktionov when he came over that first year. Had an absolutely sick toe drag goal [versus Philadelphia](https://youtu.be/gBSwocI-6UQ?si=Ze-sqoEztVxnRHDJ) if anyone remembers that.
Thought he was gonna be a good young middle six piece for a good amount of time that first year.
Wow Tuomo Ruutu manā¦Hearing that name just brings me right back to when we were the oldest team in the league.
I have no idea why, but 15-year old me in February 2013 was absolutely convinced that Loktionov was going to be the second coming of Sidney Crosby lolš¤¦š½
this organization really has been in the shitter ever since kovalchuk āretired,ā like truly lmao
Thatās funny. People are saying today that the third round pick we just sent to the Islanders is irrelevant.
He had 39 combined goals in his first 5 seasons. No team saw this goal scoring breakout coming.
Don’t look the result of the pick that we traded to acquire Alexei Ponikarovsky
Meaningless.
Unless it’s a top pick in the first round, you can’t guarantee that any team would select the same player another team took in the 3rd round.

Even if we picked Geekie there, he was never becoming the player he is today with us. It’s not like he bloomed with who drafted him anyway.
