New year. New knees. New uniforms. New coaches. New front office. It is time.

  1. If we get new uniforms and they are of the classic styling, then I might consider getting behind MP9…

  2. I agree. If you’re a falcons fan you have believe in him regardless of the injuries. Gotta remain optimistic

  3. What about how he has played makes you think that he is the future? He is physically gifted, but doesn’t seem to be have the mentality of an NFL starting QB. He will probably be even more stuck in the pocket now with his new injury. The Falcons need a strong back up plan and be willing to chalk him up to a wasted first round pick. I say all that and really really hope he proves his doubters wrong and balls out for the rest of his career.

  4. I’m not saying he’s not the guy. I’m just curious how long he could be the guy with his injuries. What precedent do we have of a qb going through this (general question I’m not a historical football guy)

  5. Given Zac Robinson’s press conference for Tampa when he was pressed about running all that pistol in Atlanta, I don’t know how you can be so confident

  7. He’s got the arm and… yeah that’s about all he has, maybe if he fixes everything else he’ll be 1st round NFL starter caliber!!

  8. I hope for the best and prepare for the worst. It’s how I’ve survived my fandoms for my whole life.

  9. I’m not anti-Penix, but I’ll believe it when I see it. He’s shown he can be solid, but franchise QB is something that’s still in question. I hope they bring in competition.

  10. I’ll just hope for the best and prepare for the worst. The reason? The “Michael Vick Experience” didn’t work out so well.

  11. Man I invested in his rookies last year . I really hope he pans out . I still believe in him .

  12. We don’t really have a choice to not put all our chips in on him,We know what Kirk is and I don’t think there’s a Darnold type reclamation prospect out there we can get.We ride with Penix until he has another injury or shows he’s not the guy.

  13. I look at teams like Seattle, Denver, and Houston and I think that if Michael recovers well I think he is enough with the right kind of team, but we need continued improvement on the defense and a complete 180 on special teams. I don’t think it’s enough just having a quarterback and I don’t think a medium level quarterback damns you, but there are other aspects to this team that will need to fill in some gaps in order to be that caliber of team.

  14. MP9 may not make it through an entire season ever. History of injuries and they don’t get stronger.

  15. He will get his shot this year. We will see how well he plays, but I think the team will be approaching the roster with the mindset that he’s definitely not a sure thing.

  16. He’s talented yeah but I just don’t see someone being the franchise with multiple knee injuries.

  17. This goddamn fan base gave Desmond Ridder more time than they want to give Penix, it’s unbelievable

  18. No way to know if he’s the future or not at this point, and that has nothing to do with his injuries. We haven’t seen enough of him or his development to know if what we’ve already seen is what he is or if there more potential to be developed.

I’ll give him the benefit of believing he – with new coaches and new front office and all that – can leas the team until we see otherwise.

  19. That may never happen. Even before he got injured, a lot of fans here were ready to move on from him, without a full season’s worth of games and with poor coaching and play calling. The new staff didn’t draft him, and they’ll only go so far to try to coach him up and let him learn from young QB mistakes.

  20. “We gotta believe” – I do believe. I believe what I have a long collection of evidence of, which is to say, in any average season the Falcons will use bad process and provide a mediocre team.

That said, we’re starting with a new front office. I HOPE we will break that tradition, use logical, data driven process, and build a solid team. If we can gather quality players consistently at fair or good value, then maybe my hopes will be fulfilled.

  21. My kids believe in the Tooth Fairy. Belief equals nothing. Kirk will restructure his deal for 2 more years. MP will get his chance in 27.

  22. I hope he is, and if he is, great, if not, then that’s fine too. He’ll be on Year 3 of a rookie deal. Assuming we can get a near complete body of work this year aka missing only a 1/3 of games I feel like we will have the direction we need to go one way or another.

  23. Yall are putting a lot of stock into a guy who is 39 out of 46 in PFF. I hope he works out too, but acting like staying healthy is the thing holding him back is rejecting reality.

  24. The unathletic guy with an incredibly bad injury history that doesn’t throw the ball to the middle of the field? Really? That’s who you’re pinning your hopes on?

  25. As a UW fan I watched this man dominate for two years and be one of the best in college football, with no injuries. Hopefully he can bounce back and get some confidence again.
