Jeff Hafley SPEAKS OUT On QB Plan + More Miami Dolphins News

Dolphins head coach, Jeff Hafley, went on the Schrager Hour with ESPN’s Peter Schrager to discuss all Miami Dolphins news and Dolphins rumors. Hafley talked about the Dolphins QB plan in 2026 with Tua Tagovailoa, Quinn Ewers, and Cam Miller all under contract on the Dolphins depth chart. Hafley didn’t share a ton of information but said enough to make Dolphins Today host Nic Rohloff believe a Dolphins QB plan is in place. This episode of Miami Dolphins Today by Chat Sports features all the Dolphins rumors on Tua and who Miami could target in NFL Free Agency, the 2026 NFL Draft, and a potential trade during the offseason.

Jeff Hafley, Dolphins head coach, on the Schrager Hour with Peter Schrager:
“I’ll be part of that, right? We will have conversations, and whether somebody that’s here, whether we have competition with the players here, we bring someone else in—they are allowed to compete. Whether that is free agency or whether that is a draft. Let us be honest, there will be conversation. There has to be a plan, because this league runs through that position. So can I sit here right now and tell you what the plan is? No. Have we had conversations? Yeah. I’d be totally giving you a bunch of B.S. and lying if I told you that I had no plan. Can I sit here and tell you what the plan is? No, I can’t tell you. You already know the answer to that. You’re just doing your job asking me questions. So that’s the best I can give you right now.”

  1. Why can’t there be total transparency. What actual benefit does the withholding and secrets create. Why not say, yeah we’re going to cut Tua, yeah we’re looking at Malik Willis, etc. it’s total bs

  2. Why would we waste money on a qb that won't get us a playoff win? None of those QB's will get us there. Bite the bullet. Ride out the year with Quinn and get a real contender.

  3. I’m not sure why we would want to spend money we don’t have on one of those no talent free agent QBs. Or spend a draft pick which we need for other positions on a mid QB whom you can’t win with. We should just go with Ewers and Miller, good bad or ugly and get a top 5 pick in 2027 and get a legit franchise QB then.

  4. The problem with post June 1st cuts is the money isn't available until June 2.

You aren't factoring in that if we keep Tua on the roster the cap hit this year in only $56 million. This is far more manageable. Just because you as a fan want to cut him doesn't mean Miami's GM and HC will see it the same way. For this reason I believe the least likely thing they do is cut him. It is there job to manage the cap and still put together the best team they can and whether you like it or not keeping him another year is best for the financial health of the team and allows the most off season flexibility. Plus there are other things they can do to manage the cap to improve this situation. If you have to pay him might as well see if he can give us something as a player.

Btw, Hafley did mention Tua in his initial press conference and said he accomplished a lot in the league. So clearly he was just trying to be positive. But he also mention there will be competition whether it's Tua and Ewers or others we bring in from outside. You opinions are just speculation. Nothing more. As with some of your other videos you're not always right and I seriously doubt you are on this one. Most of us fans would like to move on from Tua but we may have to be patient before that can happen.

It's funny how you "know he's going to be cut".

  5. No mention of Tua. No mention of Ewers. Tells me that both are history. If Hafley liked either — he would be praising them. They will keep Ewers because of his rookie contract, but he is not going to be QB1. He will be in a "fake" competition with whomever Sullivan and Hafley bring in here, but ultimately, Sullivan and Hafley will want whomever they bring in as being their QB1. They will go through the motions of a fake competition, but it will be all for show — they already know that Ewers will be either QB2 or QB3. That's where the real competition will be — for the QB2 spot. I fully expect Ewers to be traded (or even cut) at the end of his contract.

  6. Sign Malik and draft cole payton 😅 Wonder if NFL teams would do that… having 2 QBs from the same school on their roster at the same time ( payton and cam miller )
