  1. Dallas was in the finals, and Luka was 25 years old. He was literally following the typical progression of a champion. Get to the WCF once, lose, add a few pieces, and go back even further to the finals. Dallas was setting itself up for multiple finals runs. Then it all changed, and it may take a decade—either way—to get back to the finals. Dallas has been to the finals only 3 times in their 45-year history. Nothing is a guarantee. Nico not only screwed his own team, but he screwed Luka, too, because now Luka has to put up with the LeBron drama and a rebuild there, too. The difference is that LA is freeing up $150 million and now has picks and a good ownership group.

  2. Could they package Gafford & Naji for a 1st and a younger player?
Plus something for Klay to a contender.
Or combine them all if you can actually trade Anthony Davis for pieces, picks & cap space

  3. Because of the second apron, Dallas has to make trades. Current projections has dallas about $3 million over the second apron for next year. If they get a better draft pick, that number will go up, too.

  4. Okay so let's look at this way If Giannis gets traded before at the deadline then it becomes easier to move AD but if you have to wait til the summer then I would do a trade with Boston of Gafford Martin and DLo for Simmons maybe a future 1st. Call Chicago do a bad contract swap of Williams Willis I can't remember for Hardy. Then if the Warriors are desperate for a reunion you do Clay and Exum for Kuminga. Try to get one 1st from Golden State. This gives us flexibility and some draft capital.

  5. 7 to 10 years before Dallas comes close to being in the finals again. This is why you do not trade a 25-year-old real generational talent who literally just had a historic finals playoff run.

  6. Blow it up and and build a young core around Coop and Christie. And yes, that means trading Kyrie in either the off-season or at the deadline next season as well. I'm tired of talking about old guys who aren't even contributing.

  7. If you don’t make any moves it will be impossible to sign rookie extensions for Christie, Lively, etc. they have to clear some salary off the books somehow. And if it’s Naji you better be getting one or two FRPs.

  8. Flagg has shown nothing. He’s on team with zero talent. Someone has to shoot pass and rebound. The stats these guys are getting are meaningless. Lebron at 50 has better stats than Flagg and he is terrible. If the Mavs get first pick in draft, Flagg is instantly second fiddle and completely tradeable.

  9. Do you want to have one of the top 5 most expensive payrolls in the league while being a bottom 10 team? I don't. Should have blown it up in the 2025 offseason once they landed Flagg but they were too slow to fire Nico

  10. The Naji slander is crazy. He was playing great with AD and Cooper. He literally doesn't need the ball and we were here raving about it.

  11. Once you become a bad team, you're toxic in the NBA. I have a saying sometimes you have to tank to get players you need to win, Then you have to make the playoffs to get players you need to win. Giannis just requested a trade. Let me guess he wants to go to playoff teams. Just look at NBA free agency. There's literally a pattern most the players resign with their team. Then the next go to playoff teams and in a couple scraps will go to bad team for massive contracts. So the Mavericks have to be tactical who they trade because reality is they won't be able to replace them.

  12. NO they don't need to blow it up. They already have 3 starters, a future ALL NBA player in Flagg, some great role players, a top 10 pick in upcoming draft, and a lot of tradable players. This team can flip to a contender next year with a few good moves

  13. The Mavs don't have a year or two to wait on a Max Christie extension. He's extension-eligible this offseason and can become a UFA next offseason. I expect the Mavs to extend him this summer; otherwise, it's a missed opportunity that could come back to bite them.

  14. Unfortunately no one is going to give up much for AD. Irving might have more value but at age 33 coming off ACL even his return m8ght not be good. Klay, D'Angelo, Gafford, Hardy & Lively might draw some interest. Keep Flagg, PJ, Marshall, Gafford, Williams, Ryan, Cissi, Powell & Martin. 9 keepers trade the rest for 3 solid players 1 shooter, 1 3D wing & 1 solid rim protector that can hit the 3 around 34%. That gives you 12 key players fill in the last 3 spots with young development type players.

  15. Five for one for Giannis?
At this point in his career is it really like that?
Gafford, PJ, Marshall, Christie and Martin……plus the LA pick?
I think what they really want back is THE Portland picks PLUS SOMETHING GOOD.
PORTLAND is really driving the bus on this deal.
Young talent to the Blazers to get the picks and swaps back plus “something”.

  16. High salary to undependable injury prone players. Nico's AAU boys. Thanks Nico you blew up a NBA finals team with young core. You simply screwed upa franchise for the next 3 to 4 years.

  17. We have a lot of great pieces on the team, we are two superstars away from winning games and being a playoff threat. If AD can take a paycut, and if he comes back healthy next year would be optimal.

  18. It was always Nico's plan to screw Luka. He and others didnt want the white EURO player to be the face of the Mavs or the NBA. But KARMA is a Bitch. Nico & Irving & Kidd and others behind the scene you got and will get what you deserve at the cost of us Mavs fans. Dumont grow some balls fire everyone in mgt, coaches, trainers buy out Cuban. Hire Dirk and give him 100% control. Start every level new. Then work on the roster with productive dependable young players around Flagg/Maxi and a few others heck Derk might even convince Luka to return in 3 years.
