Reaction to GIANNIS TRADE REQUEST from Bucks: Warriors, Knicks, Rockets, Timberwolves big suitors

Jason reacts to Giannis Antetokounmpo finally requesting a trade (sort of) from the Milwaukee Bucks and he goes through which teams have the best chance to get him between the Golden State Warriors, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Miami Heat, New York Knicks, Minnesota Timberwolves, San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors, and Orlando Magic. He explains why he thinks a partnership with Steph Curry feels like the best basketball fit.

  1. Mailbag: No chance for portland? I think it's better for the bucks than for blazers(for giannis of course its the worst). And can the bucks's picks that portland holds cant make room for more realistic teames? (NY and bridges for example)

  2. I've been saying this for months…. No one has a package as valuable as golden states because of how bad they will be in 2-3 years. Trading giannis to the spurs (for example) would be pointless given none of their own first rounders will be anything other than the 25-30 range. Same for Houston. Yes they have other teams picks but those are also very variable. Golden state could be for the bucks what Brooklyn was for the celtics. Difference is this could actually be a win for both teams since despite the obvious long term pain this causes the warriors, it's literally their only path to a championship.

  3. The wariors have no intriguing young players to offer also kuminga is nothing but an expireing contract. Also would the bucks want to take on Jimmy butlers contract. This trade is so unrealistic lol

  4. Mailbag: Ok, you say Golden State is the best destination for the league (fans), but what is the best destination for Giannas? Yes, helping Steph win another ring would be great for his resume, but Steph is close to the end, and Draymond is certainly almost done. Giannas wants to contend for the next 3, 4, 5 years. GS will be rebuilding in 2 years.

  5. To be clear: there is no trade request.
Just headlines that he is "ready for a new home" and that the bucks are "starting to listen"

"Starting to listen" is not synonymous with "trading a player".

  6. Not sure why Toronto wasn't mentioned. As a Raps fan I don't want this to happen but they could offer Scottie, RJ, CMB, and 3-5 firsts.

Last time Giannis won he had a strong perimeter player, and a shot creating closer. IQ and BI fit that mold.

Again, I don't want this to happen but that is probably one of if not the strongest possible package. And they could scale it back to just beat the next best offer

  7. I don’t know why you would write off the wolves and knicks. Giannis wants to compete for the rest of his career, not just the rest of Stephs. Timelines don’t work.

If the wolves make a move, other pieces would be going out and in to improve the fit.

  8. My brother and I just got back from wolf creek, and honestly, way better skiing than youd think with the lack of snow Colorado has gotten. The whole mountain is open and soft snow as of yesterday if your willing to hike for it. Something to think about for the next storm cylce!

  9. I literally cannot believe that dynamics have shifted so much in the last like two weeks, with the Jimmy Butler injury, etc., that somehow made it so that Golden State is the most likely destination for Giannis. Two years ago, this literally would’ve been impossible.

  10. Warriors should remember that they could always flip Giannis again if he wants to leave after Steph retires.. idc if it takes Jimmy, Kuminga and podz/ moody and draft capital make it happen

  11. Honestly, why would Giannis want to go to Golden State for Steph, who is also an injury risk? Why wouldn’t the Lakers or Celtics be involved? I think they would be better fits for his career.
Giannis is only 31 hes not 34-35 i think he would want more than just 2-3 years with steph what about 5-7 years eith luka or jt

  12. Explain why the Bucks should accept trade packages worse than Mikel Bridges and Desmond Bane. Go to GS where the Steph stans will tarnish him as the best player on the team just like they did with KD

  13. I hope the Warriors offer Butler and several picks for Giannis, then offer Kuminga and Podz to Dallas for Daniel Gafford and Klay. They would get Giannis, a center in Gafford, and Klay to finish his career with the Warriors, and hopefully another ring.

  14. After winning the chip, Giannis talked all that sh*t about staying with the team that drafts you and doing it the right way! Then reality set in. First, he recruited Dame and that didn't work out; and now he's talked sh*t about his team organization and teammates — and has requested a trade. #HumblePie

  15. MAILBAG: Jason he said earlier that trading Giannis anywhere outside of the east would be very bad for the league to make it even more lopsided with superstars, but now you say you are rooting for him to go to the Warriors. Just wondering your logic and if this is still bad for the league.

  16. Golden Stare is absolutely not getting a pick back for Kuminga, they’ll likely have to send a pick with him to offload him. And I don’t think the bucks want 37 year old Jimmy butler coming off a major injury

  17. Mailbag: your ideas regarding the Cavs not making a major trade was well backed up, and I might agree. However, I think Deandre hunter will never fit on this team, his lazy habits and play style are toxic and too deep to fix in time. What trade makes sense there, and who would even want him. Jarrett alllen is the other player I’m not a huge fan of on the Cavs, but removing him requires a restructuring of the team so it might be best to wait on that.

  18. If I'm SA no chance I am coming off Harper. I'd drive Fox to the airport. Come off Cassel if there was no other way. Harper would be a non starter for me. Honestly don't think I'd mess with the combination of the two young guard and Wemby. If I could add Giannis while keeping that trio I would if not I wouldnt. For Houston I think Sengun has to be the key piece of the deal. I just don't think they work playing together. As a Rockets fan I would hate to go from our young upcoming roster of everyone being under 23 and looking like we had a decade to watch the group grow together to 2 old stars taking up like 65-70% of the cap. To me its either KD or Giannis on this team.
On a side note if Giannis goes to a team in the West they need to figure out a way to realign the conferences. Maybe make it 4 conferences with a southern and northern and rotate who they face each season. It would be brutual if the 5-6 clear best teams in the NBA are in one conference with like the top 7 players in the league.

  19. How much did GS pay you? No blue chips at all and take back Jimmy (terrible contract) JK, terrible value. 4 picks is nice but doesn’t give Bucks what they want.

  20. I think what you underestimate with minny is that Milwaukee doesn’t have their picks and so doesn’t have much motivation to win. A Jaden Randle sort of deal allows you to to compete if you want and trade them if you want. Also this will ultimately be where Giannis wants and ant is pretty appealing in comparison to the other spots
