We won’t have the cap space to re-sign him after this season, and we aren’t expected to make a deep run in the playoffs this season so timing just isn’t on our side here.
We really shouldn’t be doing any trades unless it’s to cap dump Killorn/Strome/Vatrano.
Re-signing our RFAs and Trouba should be our first priority right now.

This is textbook hardball from Verbeek. Who knows what Panarin actually values the most but the Ducks seem high on his list because of all the factors Elliotte mentioned.
