What Role Does Kristian Campbell Have For The Red Sox?

  1. They seemingly gave up on him playing the infield, seeing that he played OF/DH in winter ball.

Truthfully, I think he’s down in WOR until there is an injury that allows him semi regular ABs. Simply isn’t a spot for him on the active roster, especially when Casas returns.

  2. This may be a hot take but if they don’t get a 2B and Hamilton struggles, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him back at 2B at some point this season

  3. can’t help but wonder if the White Sox would have taken KC instead of Teel in the Crochet deal.

  4. At the moment, he is still young and needs constant at bats to continue to improve at the plate. Can’t offer that in the majors unless he can get better at 2B or eventually 1B since OF/DH is locked up for at least a few years.

Maybe he ends up in the Rob role in the outfield but he shouldn’t be there just yet until his consistency improves at the plate. A bench of him, Eaton and Romy can cover most positions on the field. This is me assuming that 2B will be Raf or Duran which is a bold assumption

  5. This is the sort of decision that I feel will be heavily influenced by what they see in Florida.

  6. 4th outfielder, ideally LF is prob what they want. His bat solves alot of problems, which i think he will figure out. Defensively of course is more suspect but outfield prob uses his speed and athleticism better than in the infield [duran 2.0]. Campbell being bottom 20% at LF is still an improvement over being bottom 1 at 2b. Playing half his games at fenway and having rafaela bail him out will help alot. wyatt langford also comes to mind as a guy that wasnt really projected as a good defender, but hes good now

  7. Needs to dominate the top of the zone heaters to see his full potential. Same with Rafaela. Except Rafaela is a future Platinum Glover

  8. Mayer & Campbell appear to have been both overrated. Teel has shown a lot more with the White Sox. Arias & Montgomery might end up being better as well. The Red Sox asked for Teel to be traded back to them during the Winter Meetings. The Red Sox didn’t give up Anthony in the Crochet trade, but it still remains to be seen who won that trade.

  9. Boost value in Triple A then packaged as part of a pre-deadline deal for someone from an under performing team (like Marte) to bolster roster before playoff run

  10. I think he’ll become the new Rob Refsnyder. At least for 2026. Abreu needs a RH bat platooning with him in RF, and that partner is now Campbell.
