Matt Ryan Is Officially The Shadow GM Of The Atlanta Falcons. The #Bears will not receive two 3rd-round compensatory picks for Ian Cunningham leaving, because Matt Ryan is considered the lead football executive in Atlanta — not Cunningham, officially.
If we didn’t have Matt Ryan, why would they receive 2 picks? Is one because he is black?
The way comp picks are set up is awful. Why the hell should the bears get any comp picks for this hire?
The hell do you mean by shadow GM lol. He’s listed as the league executive by a technicality. He, Stefanski, Arthur have all said that the GM role in Atlanta will be like any other GM role. They’re waiting to make any roster decisions or evaluations because we hadn’t picked a GM yet until now.
Don’t get it twisted. Matt has a lot of say and can offer really good advice to everyone in the FO and the staff but he isn’t some puppet master secretly pushing buttons behind the scenes like this implies
There’s going to be some language re written next CBA over this loophole I think (If this is something that is distinguishable in the CBA?)
Terry Fontenot got bent over the exact same way. Didnt get to pick his coach and didnt have real power. Matt Ryan is the new Rich Mckay
First time the Falcons have ever managed to not get extra draft picks for someone else. We’re improving!

Its stupid to give comp picks based on race anyway. Does a team get extra picks if they draft a white corner back?
How Matt Ryan is moving rn

😂 Bears subreddit is in shambles. Feels good to finally have an organization who makes smart decisions
Cold as ice!
I don’t understand why he’s taking this job unless it’s an immense jump in pay. Having the title without the authority means that this is a lateral move, and everyone in the league knows it. If you’re not the final decision maker in the front office, it doesn’t matter what your official title says. You’re still, essentially, an assistant GM.
