Full disclosure: I’m Alden’s editor. But as an enthusiastic Redditor, I thought there’d be interest here!
Nothing but good can come of this. Excited to see if it makes an impact this summer, and hopefully he’s still with us in 2027 after an entire offseason with Driveline on top of that.
“Quero was shown a chart of comparable players based on his batted-ball profile last year, displaying more contact-oriented hitters such as Eddie Rosario, Alex Verdugo and Bryson Stott. Then, he was shown his realistic potential: Josh Naylor, Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Addison Barger, players with far more power.”
This would be some good shit. Great article.
why doesn’t every MLB team just have a dedicated driveline (or comparable) mechanics group that just travels with the team? I feel like MLB teams should mandate this kind of analysis, but perhaps it’s against CBA bylaws
I am thrilled to see stories about our young guys continuing to put in work during the offseason. With that being said, nothing is real until they’re facing major league pitching again. I recall Ty France working on his swing with Driveline a few years back and then his BA and production proceeded to drop off even further the following season.
The article mentioned former employees taking jobs with major league clubs, but teams have to have some type of similar access to this technology, right? Thinking about stories with Colson’s swing rebuild—and that was in the minors.
Regardless, I’m happy to read this. Kudos to Edgar—looking forward to seeing the results this year.
